i just got H&R lowering springs for my B5 A4 and was succesful in getting them installed in the rear, but am having trouble in the front. Any tips on removing the lower shock bolt? things i have read says it should be able to be pulled out under the support bar, but I can't get it out.

    Re: lowering springs

If you're talking about #43 then yeah it just slides out. You may have to get the load off of it first. You could also try putting threading on the nut a couple turns but so it still covers the end threads and then hitting it with a hammer or drift (punch, nailset, socket extension, etc.) to get it moving.

2nd, i use a punch with a close diameter to the bolt itself to prevent knicking the threads. it has a taper to the end IIRC.

pb blaster and a six pack while you wait for it to soak are your friends when doing suspension work on virgin cars.
