Today I cranked up the car and just happened to hear a "pshh, pshh, pshh" sound coming from the (obvious fuel pump area) rear passenger footwell.

I changed my fuel filter less than 10K miles go with an OEM unit, so it cant be that...

Right away, I realized my fuel pump is about to crap the bed, and my tech friend confirmed that...just wanted to hear it from you guys too, lol

    What do you all think?

Teh cheapest place i have found a fuel pump is from PureMS for liek $180...any body know a cheaper place?

    Thanks

Oh, yea I literally JUST hit 100,000 miles....and first my front drivers side tire is cracked and now the fuel pump has crapped.....awesomeness

You may just need a new fuel filter, and you can salvage the pump.

How's this "Your pump is shot. Time for a new one."

    Haha.

Seriously, the symptoms are pointing to a bad fuel pump since you're filter is relatively new. I can't imagine you have that much sediment in your tank to clog a fuel filter in 10k.

    $180 is good.

    Its $190+ here: http://www.genuinevwaudiparts.com/pa...02&catalogid=1

there were a couple fuel pump recalls (mine was included). worth double checking your VIN with your dealer first. might get lucky.

You see, (not to sound cocky) but I already new that a sound like that indicates the fuel pump...its just that, my car has been running FLAWLESS, and just this saturday i ran the gas tank almost dry (which I know is not good for the pump) and then filled it up all the way....and then 12 miles later I noticed the sound...I though maybe i had pumped some crap into my tank.

Anyways, I did NOT notice the sound today. Furthermore, at WOT my car stills pulls normal (slow but normal, haha) and its doesnt misfire or anything.....hmmmmmm

N7plus...I stated in my first post that I saw it at purems.com....here is teh link though:

I run my tank to almost bone dry pretty much every fill-up and my pump is good (125k and counting)
