    Rear brakes locking up

So i noticed that my rear brakes are locking up. One night when i came out of my car i saw the drivers side rear rotor glowing red. I cant feel the car braking down when im driving so i didnt notice it while driving.

Today when i got out i can smell the brakes and when i came close to the wheel i can feel the heat from both sides. I did my brakes not to long ago and i lubed up the pins and the calipers seem to be in working order. Before i go throwing money on new calipers and parking brake cables is there anything i'm missing here or should do first? What have some of you found to be wrong in your situation? I also found my parking brake to catch right away, where can i adjust it? is it in the midlle console or? BTW. my car is a 99 2.8

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Rear brakes locking up

A seized piston that seizes somewhat sporadically due 2 gunk or a remote posibility is a bad master cylinder.

    Re: Rear brakes locking up

Its possible for the piston to have some gunk i will check that out. I dont think that bad master cylinder would lock my brakes it would just go to the floor when i press the brake pedal.

is your ebrake disengaging? sometimes over time the cable part on the calipers rust and stay locked on. Saw this on a couple customer cars at work.

When did you change the pads?
Are you sure the springs are facing UP.

    Re: Rear brakes locking up

I just changed the rotors and pads last week. The drivers side does it more but both of them are locking up. Yes the springs are facing up, i dont think you can make a mistake like that and have the springs down. I just had the car jacked up and sprayed some Pb blaster on the brake cables. Previous owner let the brakes go really bad they were metel to metal so i put new brakes all the way around. Looks like i'll be buying new rear calipers soon.

The calipers were in good working condition when I upgraded to B6 S4 calipers. They also have SS lines on them as well.

    $95 shipped. Let me know.
