What would a 2000 S4 with 211,000 miles on it be worth? Believe it or not I know where one is for sale with that mileage on it. I know it wouldn't be worth much with the mileage but just curious what you guys think. Heres what I know about the car.......

Silver
Cold Weather Package
6 speed
White leather interior
Runs good
Body looks good
Driven almost exactly 25k a year since it was new
I don't know anything else about the car at the moment

I would say at most $9-10k...given it has all service history and pristine maintenance. Either way, buy it if you have money. Make it your own.

as long as tb service is good and turbos dont sound like the dentist then 8K would work for me-casa white 9k would do it lol

I would be really wary about buying an S4 with that kind of miles on it. KBB says 10,265 in excellent condition, but if you were going to buy it i would say 8k or under. thats a lot of miles, especially on the original turbos. you'll be puttin some serious money into repairs

I had sold my old 200 turbo quattro it had 230,000 it ran fine. mostly... But it was knickle and diming me to death. I know our cars are costly enough already,

but I would be leary as well. Unless theyve basically replaced all the suspension and kept up really good maintenance for the engine.

Nah, you were right, the one at the salvage sale that was crushed in the rear sold for $5,600.

The white interior shows wear VERY quickly....After 200K+ it must just be ravaged. Then again, the interior tells a lot about how a car was treated.

there is a guy over on AW that has over 200k miles on his B5S4 and he has no major probs; I think he is in PA too, same car??

I have just over 188k miles on mine right now with the orig. K03s - seem to spool fine, pulls hard, no noticeable "dentist drill" noises. These cars will run essentially forever with the proper maintenance and care. Just go over the thing with a fine tooth comb checking for any issues.

No way that's way too much - like a previous poster said, he paid 3000 for one with 184k and my brother bought one from a dealer for 5300 with 176k and this thing was pretty mint, just like 3 scratches and a minor impression in the rear bumper.

Yea, that mileage is insane. That should be the steal of a century for like $5,000. Man, I feel like my 88,000 car has way too many miles.

just have a compression and leakdown test done. Test drive it see how it feels. I mean, at that mileage I would just go in assuming everything will need to be rebuilt within a year or two. I would only buy it as a 'project' car to build the motor, GT's, etc.

If the car looks, smells, and drives perfect then it could be a good deal. I shared a 2001 S4 Avant as a company car and it now has over 210k miles. It did 48k it's first year and the warranty was gone in the 13th month. It has had K04 turbos for about 150k miles now.[O_O]

There aren't a lot of really high mileage cars I'd buy but some are worth it. If he's run that many miles you know it had to be maintained. These things like to start problems just sitting in the garage so it has had to have had regular checkups.

If you get it you can take a pic like this when it rolls over the quarter million mark.

God damn, thats a lot of miles. I see nothing on the turbos being replaced/rebuilt and with dino being used I wouldn't trust it. Is it stick or auto, cause theres no mention of clutch life and an auto tranny is gonna be on borrowed time. The shocks/struts/ all suspension bushings should have been replaced at least once and yet theres no mention of it. YOur looking at over 2k in repairs just for the problems the seller has disclosed. There are a lot of big questions left unanwsered as far as maintence and repair. Me personally 4k max and only if its stick.

I'd keep looking, remember even if you replace the engine there's everything around it they may need replacement..not to mention the interior..suspension..etc..

There are a few S4s running around with higher mileage. Mine has 120k and looks and runs like it has 30k. It's all about how it was treated and maintained. Also find out what type of driving it saw. If those 25k a year were all highway, then I wouldn't worry at all. That type of driving is very easy on a drivetrain. If it was mostly stop and go in the city, then the car will probably show its age.

See what has been replaced and what hasn't and treat it like every other used car.

Trans will be hard to sell with that many miles though, which is another one of the big money sales. Im assuming his ideas are something along the lines of this..

Reading pwns you. Those are the details on MY car that that another poster asked for. It is not for sale.

The turbos/clutch/shocks were not mentioned because they were not replaced. My car has 188,xxx miles on the stock turbos, clutch, suspension. I do have a low mileage stock suspension in my garage that will go on soon as well as a low mileage stock exhaust system.

I bought mine with 171k for 8grand. It was a 2 owner car, taken to ECS for work, and a file of records about an inch thick.

Mileage alone is NOT a good indicator of a cars condition.

Here is an example.

-Car "A" gets driven 100 miles a day round trip to work on the highway. At 75mph the total run time of the car is 1 hour 15min a day. Roughly 27,000 miles a year of driving total run time 310 hours a year. (similar to the car in the original post maybe?)

Or

Car "B" gets driven 30 miles a day in stop and go traffic for a 2 hour total drive time.
This is only 8,100 miles a year but 540 hours of run time. Not to mention the strain of stop-n-go traffic etc etc.
