    4.2 Suspension Suggestion

Know this has probably been asked 100 times, but archive didnt help much. Have a 03 4.2 with factory sport suspension. Want to lower it, but maintain daily driver. I have two other audis with coilovers, and they are a nightmare on the road, speed bumps, and driving daily. I promised myself I wouldnt mess with this car, but it has to be done.
My biggest concern is the car sitting level, I hate when the front rides low and the back is up with typical lowering spring setups. So I was thinking of going H&R with Bilsteins. One of my cars has coilovers with Bilsteins and the other with Koni's, and I think I like the Bilsteins better, but thats just me.
I will be putting bigger wheels on eventually, but for right now my concern is daily driving and the stance of the car.

    any advice greatly appreciated.

i'd go with h&r sport for sure, which shocks to use i dont know, but even the stock ones from the sport suspension work well, the ride stays very nice. the car sits level as well, unless you have an empty tank, then the back rises up a bit, but once you fill up, it looks great :)

The rake look you are talking about can look nice but it is a matter of taste for sure. If you don’t like it, avoid the Eibach springs. I have had both H&R and Eibachs, H&R make the car flatter. Mine was the same height at all4 corners. H&R however have a more aggressive spring rate which will make them a little less comfortable and also wear out your stock shocks faster. I personally think it is a bad idea to get lowering springs on stock shocks, whether sport or not. You’ll end up getting shocks soon and pay labor twice, plus the car will be bouncy and bottom out more often IMO.
Not sure no shocks for 4.2, but the Koni yellows are real harsh especially with H&Rs. The FSD cannot be used with lowering springs no the 4.2, only on the 2.7/V6. I am not familiar with Billstein shocks, sorry.

    Re: 4.2 Suspension Suggestion

Appreciate the advice. I was unfamiliar with the H&R, but had seen pics with them on this site, and wanted to make sure that they really were as even as photographed.
Yeah changing springs without doing the shocks is really bad idea. Looks like I will be going with the H&R's then....

    Thanks again.

I thought the H&R's for the 4.2 were just 2.7T rebadged springs? As in they are not really made for the increased girth for the 4.2.

actually the H&R springs for the 2.7Q are the same parts as for the 4.2 Q but they are much lower and stiffer then stock IMO. If by girth you mean weight, the 2.7Tq is pretty heavy at 3900+ lbs... 4.2 can't e that much more :)
