I'd say if you pay more than $50 or $60 to have it installed its a rip off. It's not to hard just need to left the rear and drop the exhaust a bit. Best bang for the buck Upgrade IMO.

Huge difference compared to stock, but miniscule when you compare them to the H-Sport RS4 Sway bar kit. :)

Re: Ordered my RS4 rear sway today from ECS....

My dealership quoted me something like $250 to install it. I told them no thanks and did it myself. It is pretty easy to install (just 4 bolts, 2 are kind of hard to get to) and only took about 45 minutes. Although we were using my friend's air tools. Just make sure that you grease the bushings pretty well or you will get some squeaking. Also, I suggest buying the larger brackets because the stock brackets are a bitch to put on over the thicker bar.

Re: Ordered my RS4 rear sway today from ECS....

What bushings and larger brackets are you referring to?

This gets me thinking, I haven't checked in the B7 info thread, but is there a thread that lists all the parts (recommended and needed) for a mod? it'd be nice to have a complete list of what people absolutely need, and what could accompany an installation so if they want to do that mod, they know what they are getting into before doing it. What do you guys think? I guess I think that's helpful because I've never owned a B7 and when I get mine, having a list like that would save a lot of time and unneeded threads from being created. lol

    EDIT:

That info is in the B7 Thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105668 Good to know!

So now here's my question, the B7 Info thread doesn't list brackets, but it lists clips. Is that the same part you guys were referring to?

Should be the same part. All you need is the sway bar, six bolts, two bushings, and two brackets (clips?)

Re: Ordered my RS4 rear sway today from ECS....

Well see this is what i was told.....I called ECS the other day asking what was in teh kit. Comes with "Sway bar, and 2-bushings" The guy told me to reuse the same bolts and same brackets.

But now i'm doing all this reading, and i understand that the bar is BIGGER, therefor the BUSHINGS are going to be BIGGER also..how are the factory brackets going to work??? Factory brackets are made for a 18mm bar, and the RS4 sway is 22mm.....There are stories on here of people reusing the factory brackets but it seems like its a bitch to try and install the RS4 using them???

The brackets are the same. The bushings are different. They have the same O.D., but a larger I.D.

I dunno. That's the thing, the listing shows all those parts, but it'd be nice if it designated which parts are mandatory and which are recommended so that people can decide how far they want to go if they wwant to spend the extra money or not.

From what it sounds like some people in this thread did buy the bushings; whereas other's didn't. For Audi newbs like me, it'd be handy to know which parts would be needed/recommended.

I'm not a car newb, I know that changing out the bushings can help, i'm going throguh that process right now on my integra, but i'm not familiar with WHAT parts are available with the Audi's.

Chris, if what you said is true about the OD being the same, then why would it be a pain to use the same brackets like Glassnpowder98 says???

Re: Ordered my RS4 rear sway today from ECS....

Sorry I wasn't really clear in my previous post... You can technically use all of the hardware from the stock sway bar except maybe the bushings. My dealer recommended buying the new bushings, brackets, and bolts (bolts are definitely not needed) probably just to get more money out of me... You definitely want to get the new bushings because the diameter is different. I am not too sure if the brackets are different but I do know that the stock brackets fit over the new bushings (very tightly). I currently have the stock brackets on the car because my dealer did not have the brackets when I went to pick up my sway bar. I made sure to grease the hell out of the bushings just because it is such a tight fit and I read that they will squeak if you don't grease them. Unfortunately I cannot tell you if the brackets are the same size because my stock brackets are on the car and the "RS4" brackets that I picked up after installing are sitting in my car waiting for the day (if it comes) that it starts sqeaking. I hope that this helps to clear things up...

Its a pain because its just real tight. Put the bushings in the freezer before you start, that will help.

Re: Ordered my RS4 rear sway today from ECS....

The clips (or brackets) seemed larger than the ones I took off. I didn't really study it. It was simple to get it all back together. Yes, I could have reused the bolts, but normally when I do anything like this, something breaks--like the bolts. (I lost two clips replacing a coolant temp sensor on my B5 S4--nothing worse than a super cheap part keeping your car off the road).

The whole setup from the dealer was less than $100. 30 minutes in the garage and it was done. I took my car to Quattro de Mayo at Tail of the Dragon the next day. The reduction in understeer was very evident. Time for coilovers now though.
