Steering Wheel Vibration after New wheels installed

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just threw on my RS6 reps. Everything is great except when I hit about 40-45mph, there's a little bit of vibration coming from the steering wheel. It goes away after I speed up to about 50 mph. Is this normal? The wheels are 18x8.5 wrapped in 235 40 18s.

I didn't check, but I'd assume they were.. I asked the installer to check before they threw them on.

FIrst make sure they were road forced balance, and then check to see if there are many weights on one side of the rim...if so, then ask the installer to flip the tire on the rim 180* and rebalnce

Like the guys above said, make sure they are hubcentric, and check the balance. The rims I bought from Wheelmax came with out the hubcentric rings and did the same thing.

noob question. to make it hubcentric, is there a specific size hub ring or do they vary per wheel? I was looking on ebay and saw somthing like a 73mm and a 66mm. how does one easily measure if it's different sizes? thanks all

You have to measure the diameter of the inside of the center bore on the wheel, that is your outer diameter, and the diameter of your hub, that is your inner diameter. If you google, there are sites that cut hub rings to every specification.

make sure the spacers are pushing the wheel out enough for it not to ride on the hub...it will vibrate at higher speeds...

make sure the lugs are tightened down too. that can cause a bad vibration. you'll realize it after a while when your wheel falls off too...
