Talking Killed a few Porsches, a Corvette and an S2000 over the weekend...

I ran my second AutoX this Saturday, this time with the Porsche Club and once again I was very satisfied with the A4. I actually beat a friend who is at par with my skill level in his 993, which is the car I've been driving for the past three years prior to buying the A4. Most Porsches run on extreme summer tires of course and some were running r-comps while I ran my A4 on the shitty M+S tires the car came with. Once I put on some 615s and RS4 sways, I'm convinced my times will drop a good 2 seconds, which in this AutoX would've placed me between 6th and 10th place...not bad.

No weather advantage...though I was praying for rain, it was bone dry and high 60s. Some cars are highly modified (all of the 951s are) and to be fair, there were some noobs out that day driving cars that would've beat me in more capable hands. All in all, pretty good for a little (big and heavy actually) four cylinder running shitty tires I think.

The GTI placed 48th, it was embarrassing because there was only 29 people who ran!

nice job besting some pretty beefy cars. was this over in nj? that 73 911 must have been modded up right? those things were fast in their day, but slow by todays standards.

Re: Killed a few Porsches, a Corvette and an S2000 over the weekend...

Red: I'm in Vancouver. The car was sweet but it's not a 73RS. It was a 74 Carrera which looks like an RS and therefore mislabeled. It is track prepared and it was bar-none the best sounding 911 I've ever heard. The 73 RSs are sweet cars and very collectible, bringing well over $200k now. They put out ~230HP.

Muffin: I actually had a couple of people ask me if that was my "RS4" lol.

Thanks for the comments guys. The A4 is proving to be a fun car.

louis- you confused me. help me get this straight. the second pic you posted shows the black 74 911 and the first pic shows the red 73 911. i was talking about the 73 911, not the 74 since the 74 gained many advantages with that newer bodystyle. my question was how worked out was the 73 911 since it scored pretty damn well with how slow it is (i know, i have one).

Older 911s may be slow but there's nothing like them. Nice to have another p-car guy around. The black 911 next to the GT3 is actually the 1984 Carrera that came in behind the Z4. It's modded, runs r-comps and is driven by a very experienced autox-er. The orange car next to the GT3 in the first pic is actually the '67 911S and it's bone stock...170HP IIRC. The 1974 "RS" which is the Carrera I referred to earlier is white with red scripting and red wheels. It's not pictured because the car left after lunch and the pics were taken in the late afternoon runs. There is also a 73 that came in with a time of 60.55 and I'm sorry but I just can't remember that car.

ahh. it all makes sense now. thanks for clearing that up. i thought about turning my T into an RS clone but its the engine that really needs work first since i have the meager 2.4L 6. hey why are you selling your 993? did u try putting it in the classifieds of Excellence mag?

Your car would be an absolute blast with a 993 engine. I know a couple of guys who have done the conversion and you effectively end up with a low 2,000 lbs car and 285HP. It only takes time and money.

I had two 993s and I'm selling them partly as a band-aid fix to my car addiction and also to invest the cash into my business as we approach some significant milestones. I've already sold my garage queen C4S and now I'm selling the car I was preparing for PCA club racing. I was heartbroken until I started having fun with the A4 I bought to replace both cars. If my "all-in" investment pays off, I'm gunning for a GT3 by this time next year.
