i own a 1998 audi a4 2.8Q and i recently bought a new oil pan since i put a hole in my other one, when i got the oil pan it had no gasket so i called in to the local vw dealership and asked if they had any gaskets for my oil pan and they said that audi a4's dont need gaskets and they just use a special silicone sealant but when i took off my old oil pan i saw that it had a gasket and no sealant, ive seen gaskets for my oil pan should i just order one and do i just put that on there or do i put sealant somewhere on the gasket. thanks

buy yourself a bentley repair manual, i believe it calls for an rtv gasket... its poured from a tube

when i did the oil pan on my other car i believe i just had to make a circle around all of the oil pain bolt holes, and then obviously around the entire outer edge of the pan

    kinda like this:

I changed the oil pan on my 2.8 aswell, no gasket just use a gasket maker.
