ok well i was driving up to north today and was the first long freeway trip drive iv done with my car. Usually my car says im around 20 mpg when driving mostly city and some highway. Today my average went up to around 30-31 mpg. And i was driving around 75-80 mph the whole time, it took a while for it to get that high but it eventually did and started to "top out" around there.

Can my 97 12v w/ 5 speed actually attain this kind of mileage or is it bs?

damn thats sucks to hear. I thought for a second my car achieved rediculous mileage on the highway. Damn, well how off are they..... I no that its way off when they tell you your current mileage.

my display is usually pretty accurate. My display usually states 25.7-27.3 mixed driving, and I'm usually getting around 370miles to the tank and around 13 - 13.5 gallons to fill up.

i drove a 01 turbo before i bought my car and it seemed wayyy less smooth then a 12v my friend bought with 185k miles on it. Considering they have the same power stock, i cant imagine driving a stock 1.8t before 2001.

my audi with a gt28rs turbo gets on highway cruising at 75-80 around 30 mpg. You just have to stay out of boost its that simple. As long as im not running the shit out of it, i get great gas mileage.

im not bashing your 12v's of fury... but i love my 1.8t and to each his own.. ive driven a 2.8 and didnt like it at all, and with the little amount of mods that you can do to them i just dont think that they are worth it to buy..

Actually a chipped a4 is faster than a 2.8 its obvious, just look at the dyno results on APR's and REVO's website, All i got is basic mods and this thing feels like a big v6, its amazing what these little 1.8 engines can do,
You should just save up and and get a 1.8T, you won't regret it.
