Why should i pick a b6 Vs a B7

First of all Good weekend ,

I know alot of you guys are going to tell me go for the b7 2.0T as alot more to offer but i have a budget and i want to respected and i want you guys to prouve me what do you like in your b6 that is better then a b7, Also i am looking at the market and i find that the price are still high since the new model b8 will be out shortly source (www.cars.com),

My Biggest Fear To Buy a b6 is the maintance Correct me if i am wrong
The Bads...
-Control Arm's are expensive to replace?
-Coilpack?
-windows regulator failure ?
-timming belt ?
-any other issues ?

The Gods
-Quattro system
-Mileage per tank
-Comfy
-good for winter
-good looking

i want you to give me something that you feel that will make me buy a b6 considering that the new model b8 is comming out and the b6 is getting old

i personally like the looks of the b6 better...ironically, i couldnt afford a b7 anyway..control arms arent an issue with the b6...the b5's on the other hand...

The only reason to get a B6 instead of a B7 other than buget, is becuase there are more products for the B6 and people know more about the car and how to make power with them.

2.0T stock == 1.8T STAGE 1 and then some. wider torque band due to higher compression, slight better mpg.

old audi's start to have electrical gremlins (all german cars) so the cost of having someone do labor for your car goes up greatly exceeding the TCO of leasing a new one every 3 years.

put the last year B6 in for private purchase, get a warranty (duh), of course the expensive items will break right after the 7/100K extended is over; mods to make it look better,perform better.

i am not a mechanic and since our family ride-shares (we work together) we can afford to waste more gas and car payments in trade for reliability.

after looking at the b7 (owning a b6) i said hell no i'm not putting myself through the same car (interior wise mainly) for another 3-4 years. especially since a well equipped car would be like $150 a month less than a well equipped 300whp 135i :) and i'm still keeping the a4 for going to home depot etc.

its really hard to find anything comparable to the 02 1.8T A4. the car came with phenomenol options for how cheap it was (option to option it was no more than the b5 2001.5 because it only came with mandatory options in first call delivery).

The lease factor on the b7 is extremely good and the residual isn't terrible on a 36 month. But what pisses me off is now you pay $650 for 4/48K of service. Where as the dark side throws that in for free; throws in on-store for free (4/48K); and then some.

If you want to get a tiptronic do not buy the 1.8T; you will be very unhappy with its shifting performance with k03/k04 mod stage levels. manual only. speaking of which doesn't any one else think the B6 has one of the worst clutches evar

If you look for a used B6...I'd get a 04.5-05.5...as they seem to have the least amount of "issues" (could be because they are the newest, but that's the way it seems).
Also they offer better options IMO.

Anyways, like was said before, you can make b7 faster (like 300hp) for less money, but still b6 has much more different performance upgrades for sale.

You'll have a better time in the 2.0t engine especially if you are stock for a while or gonna be stock forever, just finance one because a stock 1.8t is depressing lol. Sorry I have to make it out like that but in terms of power it really is. Looks good though. And the 2.0 looks good too. Maybe just wait a tiny bit longer to get a b7 either to save up or because when the b8's come out(or actually start getting stocked in the dealers, now they cant even stay in the dealer because the waiting list probly hasnt been finished and they are probly barely there for week.) But once you are able to walk into a dealer and buy a B8 and pick it up in a week, then thats when you wanna get a B7 cuz thats when i mean the dealers will wanna get rid of all the older b7s and make room for the b8's.

We're in Quebec bro, our roads suck, winters are harsh, too much salt everywhere, so buying older is that much more of a gamble, unless the car you're buying spent its life somewhere else in milder weather/seasons.

just wait and buy a b7 because although some people think they look worse than b6's, there is no doubt taht the 2.0TFSI is an amazing engine. That and you get larger brakes, usable cupholders, and a few other nice little amenities.

B6 styling is just plain better (doesnt have the stupid Corporate Grille). Interiors are virtually identical. Tons of modding options for 1.8t.

Save your money and get a late model b6tqm with the six speed...

if you get a B6 go with an '04 or '05...earlier years are known to have more problems. and yes i second what someone said above about the B6 having the worst clutch EVER. it regularly pisses me off. i hope they changed this in the B7, i've only driven an auto so far. if you don't mind higher payments go with the B7, your 2.0T starting platform is waay better than the little underpowered 1.8T.
