i saw something on AW that said it gives a 15awhp gain..

would this intake work well with the X1 intake??

the headlight setup is pretty much the same setup as you stock intake, IMO no 15awhp gains lol.

but we all know how accurate dyno results can be...

so lets say i get a X1 intake, an intercooler, downpipes and the headlight intake.. i'd need to get a custom tune for those?? or my ECU will adapt to the better air flow,cooler air.. and thus increase my power??

X1 is a nice intake but pretty expensive. I wouldn't worry about the headlight intake.

i find it hard to believe they saw any gains from a ram intake on a dyno.. as ram intakes are designed to have air RAMMED into the filter/motor so you need actually need to be driving on the road at a high speed for it to have any real affect. with that being said, if they did see gains from a dyno pull than you should get even more gains while on road.

Agreed.

It would be very difficult to tell any difference on the dyno. considering most dynos have insufficient fan equipment for cooling.

I'd be real interested to see real world logs of MAF readings.

Doesn't help that he failed to do a baseline test first without the ram air. He tested the ram-air first on the dyno and then tested stock second. You always lose power in between dyno pulls cause of heatsoak.

Back when I was stage 2+ I went 310 then immediately down to 270.

Granted I didn't have intercoolers. That just goes to show how easily dyno numbers can be misleading.

forget about all this, drill a hole in your stock airbox and call it a day. Save your money.

Maybe I can be of some assistance:

#1.) The light is not for sale at this point so $350 = pure assumption???

#2.) The light was run with an S-flow

#3.) There were "butt dyno" gains after putting the two above-mentioned mods on but might have been placebo as stated in previous posts.

#4.) The car was put on a dyno after driving for 2 hours WITH the unit on. The car was very hot to begin with. 3 pulls were done. Fans were left on and car was able to cool down for 33 minutes before the next set of tests.

#5.) 15 hp gains were not seen. 12 hp gains were though.

#6.) How do I know this?

It's in the trunk of my car while I finish up two Stage III upgrades this weekend and next. Then I am logging with 2 other guys to show if there are gains in Fats tests and other logable tests. All I've done from the beginning of this project is show you all exactly what has been built and what I am seeing with all associated info. If it doesn't do anything you all will be the second to know. In the meantime sit tight and I'll post results before June.
