wow so my car is driving me nuts, i cant seem to finish fixing it..i have a 2002 audi a4 3.0 quattro, every month i have a new problem..i fix one thing another one starts...my CEL came on and the guy pulled the codes and it said "incorrect emission purge flow" or someshit like that..i forget the exact code number but its driving me nuts..WHAT CAN I DO!?! HELP ? what should i do?!

Gas cap?? It's a pretty common reason for a CEL on our cars. If so, take it off and screw it on again a few clicks. The CEL will go away after a few days if it doesn't sense the problem again. Even if it's not that and the car drives fine, ignore it for a few days to see if it goes away. Many times a CEL just comes up because one parameter was exceeded for one reason or another but nothing major.

fix the leaking hoses and check valves they are old by now. then check your purge valve if you don't find anything more obvious.

if you don't do the PM to fix all the krusty plastic under the hood you will see this over and over and over. trust me its about 2x as bad with a turbo under the hood.

purge valves not sure the 3.0 uses the same; are easy to test you can take it off blow through it both ways, if air passes = shot. Then take a 9VDC power supply and wire it to the two leads and blow through it; if it blows fine probably good. this is a nasty problem since any check valve or busted hose can mask itself with this code including some more expensive parts :)

p.s. you should have replaced the gas cap by now on an 02' mine was pretty shot when i did mine earlyer this year

It sounds like the purge valve is stuck open.

yah the check valve before my purge valve you could see the thermoset plastic crumbled away lodging itself in the purge valve; took it off blew through it , tried everything to backflush it - bought a new one and new check valve and boom done.

i have a 1.8T so if you have something else the layout might be different. takes literally a minute to pop the purge valve off and blow or suck whatever you prefer :)

sounds like you hate your 3.0 enough.
sell the car and get a 2004 or 2005 1.8T Q 6spd.
I wouldnt keep on fixing shit if the car keep poping all this crap in your case.

I agree, sell it. Some people don't mind having older cars that need repairs, other people hate it.
