Angry Quick question about QM times and trap speed.

So i was rewatching my slow ass a4 on the drag strip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CZ-UNt4zB0 and looked into my trapped speeds. I trapped a 81.34mph at the end (I did a best of 16.9 that day), and then i looked at the qm database for our a4s. http://www.mjbmotorsport.com/sitebui...medatabase.htm And most people with my mods, trap about a 88mph (Despite Manuals I know)? I guess what I don't realize is how big of a difference the tiptronic can make. My mods right now is APR 1+, tt225 injectors, Magnaflow Exhaust, K&N filter (Does nothing i know) in terms of performance. Is that true that the transmission is truly holding me back that much, and robbing me that much power? Just curious and a little annoyed. Any gurus got any ideas? Do not tell me to sell my car or "you should of got a manual" etc etc. I'm working with what i have now.

    BTW I'm 04 quattro tiptronic.

were you running the race file with race gas or just the 93 file on pump? 88mph is race gas numbers.

I had APR 1+ and a neuspeed exhaust and did a 15.3@88mph on the race gas file with Sunoco GT100

yeah there are 2 in there saying they ran 93 on tuning that I dont even know about (ams and oct) so I kinda doubt that they were on pump. Look at all the APR, GIAC race gas runs they are in that 88mph range. What was the weather like? I can't imagine that being auto made you lose 7mph. I could see you loosing a few but who knows.

Temp was cool, prob mid 50's. Dont know anything about the elevation if that matters. Maybe between stock (93) trap of 81mph, and apr 1+ on (93) its about 85mph, and the tippy robbed the 4mph our away...who knows. Interesting...So basically with just a chip and injectors on tippy, your trap speed isn't much higher...

I didn't even think about elevation. That makes a big difference. What track did you go to? Go on google earth and look up the elevation if it doesnt list it on their website.

    buy a faster car

a gtrs/gt28r will give you a good boost in performance, but in all honesty, looking back i'd just stay where you are now and just pick up a secondary, fun car.

I plan on going BT when my k03 blows. But until then that little snail will have to suffice. Second car is coming when I graduate, but I don't plan on selling this car. It is my first car, and I'm emotionally attached :)

Here is where i went for the drag race
    http://www.midmichmotorplex.com/contact.html

Google earthed it and it said the elevation is 286 meters. So roughly 938 feet? And whatever eye alt is, thats 1.29 km.

What is the relation between high and low elevation? I know it affects it, and I never researched this topic before since it has never sparked my curiosity till now. Air density? But enough to make that big of a difference?

if your near detroit you should try the track in Lapeer,

    http://www.lapeerdragway.com/

I would guess you may be one of the few Audi's there. but its a lot closer to Detroit, Ive made it from there to Metro in 45 mins in my B5 at full tilt gonna miss a flight time. I even launched on a gravel road a foot or so in the air.
