Just Installed ECS Snub Mount And....Vibrations!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just finished up the oil change, clear side markers, Forge DV, and ECS snub mount. I had to shave off some of the snub mount's face as it was too thick and couldn't line up the bolt holes to re-mount the snub mount. The snub mount is flush up against the front of the car where it sits inside the bracket.

I was wondering if there should be more space in between the snub mount itself and the front of the car or should it be flush/tight like it is now. The vibrations are noticeable, but not overbearing...any opinions/help would be great!

I do notice more positive feel when shifting even with the auto!

Is the snub all the way on the post? Did you let the cup loose while the car idled to center it before you tightened it down?

there should be no shaving off anything on the snub mount. make sure it was ALL THE WAY in. if you didnt struggle to put it all the way in, then its not in. it goes in about half way fine, the other half is where its hard to put through. The snub mount should be touching the base on the shaft you were putting it in. then of course bolt everything up and let the car idle for a few, then tighten everything up.

I've just looked at some pics of the snub mount and I might not of pushed it on all the way....I'm going to order a new one from ECS. Does anyone know if the lettering on the face of the snub mount is the "front" on the mount?

SNUB = more noticeable engine Vibrations ... .it's normal. If you think that your not going to get any vibrations your doing the wrong mod...

The first clue was you shaving the face so it would fit. Next time just pound it on with a rubber mallet and some soapy water (not wd40 or anything else).

x2 i used grease and a rubber mallet, but the rubber mallet was key.

Re: Just Installed ECS Snub Mount And....Vibrations!!

thx for the help! I didn't shave too much of the face off of it so maybe it's still ok. I'm going to try and reinstall it later on today if I have the time.

Re: Just Installed ECS Snub Mount And....Vibrations!!

fixed the snub mount and the vibrations have reduced dramatically, but there still is a very slight vibration which doesn't bother me one bit.

thanks again for all the help!

no it doesn't, but when I initially installed the ECS snub mount I didn't install it correctly and I was getting some noticeable engine vibrations. I reinstalled it last night correctly and the vibrations have improved dramatically where now there is only a very slight vibration compared to stock. If you were to get in the car for the first time you probably wouldn't even notice....

good to hear, did you leave the cup loose (but not hanging) and let the car idle a bit before you tightened it up?
