17861 p1453 exhaust gast temprature sensor, open/short to B+.

Could this be throwing my car into limp mode? What problems would it cause?

Yup, it sure could. It would be causing your car to think that the exhaust gas is too hot, putting the car into limp mode and/or dumping in a whole bunch of extra fuel, causing a rich condition. Your car will run like shat with a bad EGT.
