    oil in intercooler hoses

Ok so tonight i removed my lower intercooler hoses, I first took off the drivers side and in the hose was so oil sitting on the bottom of the hose that looked kind of dense and dark it wasnt that much (not enough to pour out) but it was there. I then removed the passenger side and there was bearly any in the hose. I know it normal to have some oil in the hoses from what other people tell me but does this sound right? The turbos make no whining/drill noise or white smoke and always properly warmed up/cooled down.

a little oil is normal but just because the turbo is silent doesnt mean there isnt something wrong. i would just let it go for now seeing as how theres nothing you can do....but maybe thats why i dont have a functioning S4 anymore? but really...what can you do?

    Re: oil in intercooler hoses

id say youre OK. just wipe it out and if you want check it again in a month or 2 weeks. A LOT isnt good as you stated which is correct, some as you pointed out doesn't strike alarms

Ok ill clean it out later and check it in a few weeks, I doubt it is anything bad because I just bought the car from a 1 owner with 122k on it and its prob. old oil buillding up because the pervious owner never removed the hoses. But thanks for the help

    Re: oil in intercooler hoses

All journal bearing turbos have slight oil blowby, so its not anything to worry about. My drivers side turbo was pushing out a little more oil than i was comfortable with, so i took off the oil drain on the turbo and it was fairly gunked up. This was probably causing oil to build up in the turbo and causing the extra blowby. The oil drain on the passengers side turbo was perfectly clean, which further proves this was causing the probalem on the drivers side. If youre too worried about it, then you could check the drain lines to make sure they arent getting clogged...other than that its just a waiting game. Good luck man!
