    New Wheels & Lowered

This is my car after getting it back from having the new suspension done to it. I went with H&R coils, Koni adjustable sport shocks, Hotchkis tubular sways and 19" ASA JH8's.

That car looks hot. The stance looks spot on. Agree with the other posters and would also like to see some more pictures. I especially like how the wheels match the mirror shells to a tee. We are going to need to see some more pics of this car.

BTW, is this the godwood green car that was posted up here about a month ago?

    Re: New Wheels & Lowered

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I really love this car. My silver 04' was a beautiful car, but I just never felt the Tip the way I do the 6MT in this car.

The one thing I really miss about the 04' is the birchwood inserts. The aluminum is very nice, but the wood looked so luxurious by comparison. The only thing is though, I have the white alcantara inserts, and the wood might not have worked with it.

The aluminum is sweet though, and it's in perfect condition. No scratches on the ashtray or gear shifter console.

    Re: New Wheels & Lowered

The rear bar is set to the middle setting which is giving the car a really neutral response through curves. The shocks are set at the number 2 setting. This is not a car that is going to be tracked. It's a car that will be tossed around back roads some, but I didn't want to ruin it's ride. I do live in Ohio and am running 19" rims. I don't want collapsed disks in my back or bent rims. I might at some point dial it in for oversteer, but I want to learn the dynamics of this setup first and get a solid feel for the way the car reacts before I go there. I am also anxiously waiting for STaSIS' center diff upgrade for the S4. I can't wait to get the drivetrain rear-biased.

    Re: New Wheels & Lowered

These weigh 27lbs a piece and I'm good at avoiding potholes. They were cheap enough that if I bend one it isn't going to be a great loss. I bought two extra anyway. One for my spare tire and one so that if I do have a bent wheel I can send it out to be fixed and have one to put on while the bent one is being straightened.

I just don't see spending big $$$ on wheels when they bend as well. If you live somewhere that there are rough roads that's the way it goes and that's life.

Smart guy in buying more than four I'm with you on spending stupid money for rims when you know something is going to happen to them.Is that 27 with tire?I had them awhile ago I knew there was a 7 in there.

    Re: New Wheels & Lowered

No Steve... that's 27 lbs for the rim itself. Not terribly heavy for a 19"x8.5" rim. I wish I had the kind of money for BBS' but I have three cars I want to mod and have to budget for my important upgrades like chips and exhausts, suspension for my Avant.

To be honest... Though, I love that design of the rim (with the five spokes and the lip), I think the Axis Hiro's are a better implementation than the ASA JH8's.

But they're very similar, and I think your car looks awesome! That's more than could be said for my car anyway, as I still have the stock B6 rims...

EDIT: Then again, i think the Hiro's are also like $100 more per rim

    Re: New Wheels & Lowered

Tek4ever... the STaSIS center differential biases the torque of the drivetrain towards the rear. It gives a 60/40 rearward bias. It makes a big difference in how the car reacts to being powered on coming out of hard corners. It also brings some oversteer into the handling of the car when pushed hard in a corner. This is how the current production S4 and RS4 are setup.

The Hiro's are a lot more expensive than the JH8 at this point. ASA is discontinuing the wheel and Tire Rack is clearing them out. I picked them up for $139 a pop. I think they are going to be decent wheels.

I am pretty careful and know the roads I drive on very well. I don't go through potholes, if ever very seldom, and I generally tend to keep my speed down in town to begin with. If I see something in the road I generally have time to react.

These were cheap good-looking rims that didn't set me back a big chunk of change. I'm very pleased with them.

good responseee. You seem to know exactly what you want, and at that price, the ASA's were clearly a better choice anyway.

And btw, the color looks great... never seen it before.
