    help removing oil filter.

    i am changin the oil and that little POS filter doesnt wanna loose at all. I tried using a leather belt, used the tool to loosen filters, used my hands, used the screw driver method, and still no godamn luck. the filter is fucked up already and i still cant get it out. what do you guys recommend. thanks in advance.

    you put a screwdriver through the side and tried spinning it, and it still wont come off? wtf?.. thats crazy, bump for ya

    you are not gonna believe this....my efing 12 yr old brother got it off, how I DONT KNOW!!!! i just earned $20 bucks. lol..hahahahaha

    hahaha! this is the funniest thread! thats alright though, my wife helped me change my DV. i couldnt get my hands close enough to tighten the top hose clamp....

    FYI, next time it's an issue don't grab it by the nub end. Get your belt type filter wrench around the base, where the filter is the strongest.

    I say just get that big ass socket looking thing that attaches to your ratchet. Mine is usually off in like 30 seconds.

    i just find it a pain to get to due to the washer fluid thing in the way.

    I believe it is supposed to be HAND TIGHTENED!!!!!!! plus 1/4 turn!!!!!!for the next time...

    I was helping my friend get his off one time and he did not believe me I could get it off because he tried everything. Went under 2 sec later it came off sometimes you just need the magic hands.

    12 yr old kids aren't built like they used to be....he-man. i go to my son's middle school, and it looks like high schoolers up in there.
    82mm je pistons, scat rods, ported & polished aeb head. gt2871r, atp hi flow manifold (ported). 580cc injectors on custom giac tune. Once you boost, you'll never go back....

    LOL....my little brother earned $20 bucks right there. he made it look so damn easy. oh well, he is $20 buck richer.

    lube the black rubber seal on the top of the filter with a light coat of oil before retighting the new filter it will be alot easier the next time u take it off

    2 people on it usualy help.. 1 on top of the engine and 1 on the bottom..

    atleast ur shouldent be as embarrased as i was when i changed the oil in my friends carrola, i cross threaded the the little tiny oilfileter on it and after i started it 2 get it off my ramps i saw a nice puddle of 4 quarts of oil on the ground.. i felt like a fool. haha

    I find on the 1.8T its in the most pain in the ass place possible. I find its easiest to go from behind the control arms and stuff rather then from the front of the car underneath. Thing is a pain in the ass 2 change and oil drip when u get it out and just ughhh. Bad placement.
