Clunk when I turn the steering wheel...

I just had my control arm replaced two months ago and haven't even driven the car but maybe 400 miles since... I made my wife rock the wheel when I looked under the car and it is all tight and no play... It is definately comming from inside of the car... Anyone have the steering shaft u-joint go out on them? I am thinking that may be the culprit... Steering wheel has a little play, maybe an inch or less to each side for a total of 2 inches... But in those two inches, the tie rods don't even attempt to move...

could be the u-joint. mine does that, and its the rack itself.

i have already adjusted the rack, and it still does it, just worn out.

I'm assuming you replaced your outer TRE's when you did the control arms?? Could possible be your inner TRE's.

I did it the right way and everything with the inners being replaced too... The sound is definately inside of the car... You can hear the high frequencies more inside and outside is more of a thud...
