What are you guys with BT/BAT setups running for a brace/bracket for your turbo and intake manifold to take some of the pressure off your exhaust studs?

    Pictures and specs please!

The ram style manifolds setups like Full-race makes does not need a brace. I have never had any issues with the studs holding the manifold to the head and have never used a brace in the 4-5 years I have been running the Full-race manifold.

Re: What are you BT guys running for mani brackets?

I do not have any brace and have broken (read: sheared) 8mm studs. I'm going to 10mm studs when I put my 2871R on. Treadstone-style cast manifold.

EDIT: I was referring to manifold to turbo studs.

The manifold to head studs are perfectly fine (OEM 8mm I believe).

Re: What are you BT guys running for mani brackets?

i've never used a turbo-brace on either of the two cars i've owned using the atp mani and 8mm studs.. i wouldn't worry about it as long as you're using quality parts and have flex sections where they need to be, ie: downpipe, ic pipes.

But your talking about bolts that hold the turbo to the manifold right? Those snap because of the flanges expanding causing the bolts to stretch or just snap. Going with ARP bolts fixed that issue for me.

For the Full-race setups I recommend using 3/8-16 thread about 1.5- 2" long bolt the turbo to the manifold. You can even tap the manifold flange for one size larger which is what I ended up doing.

    Yes.

I have 10mm studs from 034 Motorsports I will be installing with my 2871R.

I do not have a brace on my ATP manifold, and all of the bottom studs broke off. My turbo is rather heavy compared to Garrett units though...

I see that AutoTech makes stainless studs, which i'm assuming are stronger than stock:

Re: What are you BT guys running for mani brackets?

...I was thinking about doing a brace from the frame rail, but that would be worse than no brace at all, it would push/pull on the mani everytime the engine moved, it needs to attatch from the manifold to the block

so...use the hole in the block where the factory brace connected.
