Doing the PCV system with the intake manifold still on sucks hairy balls... The rear most clip for the T pipe connector is the worst... Not to mention, the rubber has welded itself to the metal hose... Oh, and my suction pump broke in half while doing this... Should have paid the damn dealer...

I should also mention that it isn't a good idea to get cut working on your car if you have hemophilia... I got a small cut on my finger and one on my arm... Nothing big but it bled A LOT... Just that one cut on my finger caused blood to puddle on the floor with about a 2x2 inch puddle... The one on my arm caused about 1/4" of blood to puddle up in the motor mount bracket... EWWW!! Still bleeding too!!

    Crybaby.

When I did mine the big PCV breather piece attached to the block broke. The piece that broke fell into the crankcase. The internet had me so drunk with DIY that I installed new rods, rings, gaskets, oil pump and damn near everything else in a big "while you're in there" move. Turns out the piece of plastic had landed on the intermediate shaft and could have easily been reached with a pair of needle nose pliers.

so it's better to take the whole manifold off and do it?

I've always heard getting it off was a nightmare
