So tell me if I am off my rocker here or justifiabily PISSED

I bought a BT kit second hand but never used. I got the hardware installed this past week and despite talking with everyone I could I was forced to send my ECU out for flashing to the original retailer about 12 hours away.

- Saturday I spoke with the shop and they had the ECU, I left my name and phone number to find out when it would be done and if they wanted to charge me or the shop that did the install of the hardware and shipped the ECU for me. No call back.

- Monday I spoke with the shop and they had the ECU, I left my name and phone number to find out when it would be done and if they wanted to charge me or the shop that did the install of the hardware and shipped the ECU for me. No call back.

- Tuesday I speak with someone there and find out that there was some "problem" programming the ECU and it wont be ready to send back till Wed.

- Wednesday I email the shop looking for tracking info. I recieve a reply email asking for credit card info, I call them immediately. I leave my CC info even though they dont have a total or an invoice for me .... I just want my car back.

- Thursday I email looking for tracking info and a total for the work ... no reply

- Friday I email looking for tracking info and a total for the work. I get an email explaining that they missed the Thursday express courier (note they said it was going to be ready Wednesday!) and it would go out today for delivery MONDAY ! AND the bill for a flash programming on an ECU plus shipping is $288

Now you tell me, am I crazy or is this insane ??? This kit was still new, the original purchaser never got their flash done at all so technically they were paid for the flash by the original purchaser but I was fine with a 30 minute labour charge as I understand I am the second owner. But $288 ???

At this point I am so desperate to get my car back I am agreeing to the chrages. You see I need my car for work each and every day to see clients, being without the car for over a week is killing me.

This shop I am dealing with is a sub retailer for a rather large Audi/VW retailer and is affiliated with one of the prominent chip tuners in the VW/Audi scene.

So am I missing something or am I within my rights to SNAP

you definately need to take it up with the bigger retailer and show them the docs to let them know that not only did you get ripped off, but also yanked around

As soon as I get her all buttoned up and running again, which will be Monday hopefully now, I will have the parts ready to ship. I will keep you posted man, so sorry for the delay.

Question number 3...are you shipping your ECM to America from Canada? Are they insuring it for a full $1800?

The reason I am asking these questions is that in this circumstance, I could see where overnight shipping could run around $200.

They are charging me for the shipping because my shop that sent it out didnt set the return up.

Its Canada to Canada shipping, 10 hours by car.

The reason I am asking these questions is that in this circumstance, I could see where overnight shipping could run around $200.

I will know shortly what the exact shipping is, I am holding off saying a thing till then.

Thats an absolute posibility ! My ECU was set for delivery today and of course my shop was closed so they will redeliver tomorow and heres hoping the car runs 100% and I can get back to normal life ... in the fast lane

I spend about 8-10k total AMEX a month and sometimes amex will just comp me the charges but AMEX dispute system = best in the world

of course don't go around disputing shit that you're supposed to be charging lol

Well it gets worse ... yes worse.

The ECU was delivered this morning and as I feared ... it doesnt work. My local shop is a very accomplished tuner and has a number of diagnostic tools and wondering if its the same ECU we sent out as the immobilizer code seems off. Now it will mean sending the ECU back via courier and waiting for it to return.

To further complicat matters my tuner is shutting down next week and if the ECU isnt back in time my car might be locked up for a week or two while they are away unless I want to go to the expense of towing it to somewhere I can store it and try and plug in the ecu when it finally returns again !

I am totally helpless here and am out a LOT of time and money on this whole experience.

What a nightmare.

PSA...make sure you put the cover back on the ECU comparment and tighten it back down while you are waiting.

What can happen is that water will leak into it if it rains or you wash the car. All of the relays and wiring harness will rust immediately.

^^^ I would buy from them again but i would expect the worst. It wasn't to horrable but i was not pleased with the transaction. But alot of other people have had horrable service while others have had top notch service.

Its not Ecode, its a regional sub retailer thats the problem. I am hoping tomorow that the supplier steps up to help.

Although my local tuner did seem to discover that my ECU came back programmed for a 5spd, front trash A4 instead of the 6spd quattro it left as !!!!
