'06 S4 Cabrio New to AZ

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Fellow S4 Fans,

Although I've had my car since new, back in August of '06, I was just introduced to this forum. She's an '06 S4 Cabrio, 6 speed, White with black top and interior and carbon package. I just wanted to say hi and tell everyone how anxious I am to learn from all of the true Audiphiles on here!

I'm looking for parts to customize my ride. Even though it is an '06, its considered a B6 and not a B7 and as you probably know, finding aftermarket parts for this model is quite difficult. I am trying to create a somewhat unique S4. I've already equipped it with APR cat back exhaust and GIAC reprogramed ECU, Stasis/Koni tracksport suspension, Carbonio CAI, Work Wheels and Bridgestone tires.

I am especially interested in finding carbon fiber parts ( hood, trunk, etc.) for my car. Also, the APR exhaust is a little too quiet for my taste. Any suggestions for these or any other mods would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks All!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I didn't realize that there weren't that many cabrios. I suppose its because they don't make good track cars and aren't very practical. What year and color are yours? I'd love to see some pics! BTW, where in Stamford do you live? My roomate/best friend from college lives there.

I live near the beach, just off Shippan Ave.

Mine is a 2005.5 black / white with a black top. 6sp mt and factory XM. I have a thing for black cars.

This pic isn't 'my' car, but it's the same:

    It's all stock.

I see about 1-2 B6/B7 S4s a day. I might see one cab. every month or two.

I've got a Cabriolet as well and was going to be putting on an APR Catback. Does it still seem pretty quiet with the top down?

Your cabrio is sweet too! Out here the A4's are a dime a dozen but the S4 cabrios are much more scarce.

I'm not sure where my friend lives in Stamford. I know that he plays golf at Rockrimin CC. And his business is in Stamford.

Re: '06 S4 Cabrio New to AZ

For my taste, yes, its too subdued even with the top down. This maybe because I only have the catback section and not the downpipes. Be careful when they fit the exhaust to your cabrio that they dont remove the x brace for the chassis. Unbeknownst to me, they did it on mine to make the exhaust fit. Unfortunately all it did was push the tips out too far and make it hang too low, so that it scrapes on every speed bump and low driveway!

Rockrimmon CC is a beautiful course. I grew up a mile or so from there and stole many fish from their water traps...I liked to fish on golf courses when I was a wee lad.

Re: '06 S4 Cabrio New to AZ

Congrats on your car, Had an 07 S4 Cab but traded after 4 months for the
RS4 Cab. Was kind of dumb since the S4 was great but could not resist. Only 3 RS4 Cabs on the road here in MA so is very rare. Wanted to keep mine mostly stock so only mod so far is a Tubi exhaust. Seems Cabs not so popular because not a track car, Not a big deal for me because I love top down driving and am not a race car driver. Also put some snows on and drove all winter. Car did much better than my truck in the snow. Snows over all seasons make a huge difference

I'm 34. I've been in this town for most of my life...perhaps I know of your friend or his companies. This used to be a small town.

fishing > guitars > cars > everything else.

I learned to fly fish about 10 years ago and prefer it. There really is a zen to it.

To me, the APR is only slightly louder than stock. Keep in mind that I dont have the downpipes though. I would imagine that if you do the full system it will be quite a bit louder than stock.

    Hey Scott,

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

The RS4 Cab. is what I aspire to! That car is so sweet! Congrats on stepping up from the S4! It must sound awesome with the Tubi system? I'm with you...I'm no racer, I just enjoy cruising with the top down and listening to that throaty V8 rumble!

    Thanks,

    Chris

Their family owns Stamford Wrecking/ Furniture Outlet. They are lifelong Stamforders too! I learned to flyfish about 7 years ago and it, along with cars have become my obsession! You have to get out west and fly fish! The scenery alone is worth the trip!

When I had my Tubi put on they had to undo x brace, I remember the guy being nervous that the car must be totally level to be done right so they did my car on the alignment machine. When he connected the braces back up he had to use some spacers to keep exhaust from sitting on brace. Exhaust sits perfect now. I paid a little more to have mine installed at a Tubi dealer who did Ferrari's and Lambo and it was money well spent to have it done right. I am now looking for a short shifter, Anyone know the best thats available for the RS4?

this place rocks! you can get a $20k vintage bed and you can buy a $.10 ash tray. have you been there?

when it comes to scenery, everything out west is a little more impressive.

Sounds like that was money well spent to get it done right the first time and not have to worry about it! I wish they had taken the time and the care to do mine correctly. Now I have to buy a replacement x-brace, have that re-welded and have the system redone!

Its a cool store, huh? I was there once a long time ago. I believe that they have moved into a new facility which I haven't seen. As for the saltwater flyfishing, I sure do! I have lots of friends and family down in FL, so when I visit I fish Biscayne Bay for bonefish/permit/tarpon, etc. How 'bout you?

Don't get me wrong, the east has some spectacular scenery as well. The west is just so different than what I'm used to being from the east coast.

I've never fly fished in salt water with heavy tackle. Up here in CT, I use my light tackle for snapper blues and harbor blues. One day I'll move up to the big-boys table.

What weight is your fly rod/reel? Some of those late summer/fall Blues get quite large and nasty!

I need a new office desk and chair. I'll have to see what swc has.

My fly rod is an old Shakespeare 12 wt, 8 ft. The reel is a real POS...also a Shakespeare. I got them from an uncle who died.

When the blues get to be 18" or more, they are too much to handle so I switch to a spinning rod with 12-20 lb. tackle.

I ALSO spent some time at GWU. 1992-1993. I miss GW every day.

I transferred to GW as a sophomore from U of Md. I lived in a great first floor apartment at the corner of 21st and E street. I pledged Phi Sigma Kappa which is located at the corner of 21st and F street and lived in a basement apartment just next to the fraternity house on F street (2037 F street). I transferred in my junior year to Uconn.

At the time, GW was having trouble and they gave me a bunch of $$ to go there (I never applied for aid). Now, I think it is the most expensive college in America.

    Do you ever go back?

Wow...so you were a Terrapin, a Colonial and a Husky, huh? I lived in Thurston Hall (19th & F) my freshman and sophomore years ('85 and'86) and then moved out to Crystal City for my final two. GW seemed like the most expensive colege back then, I can only imagine how ridiculous it is now! The day I graduated was the last time I was in DC. Not a big fan of the city itself although the sites and the tourist attractions are pretty cool! I spent a summer there doing an internship on Capitol Hill and it is the HOTTEST f@*king place on earth!

Unfortunately I dont know Todd Stromberg, sorry.

I am very familiar with Thurston Hall. A lot of friends and fellow pledges lived there. One of my best friends took a swan dive from the 6th floor...luckily he is still alive today and completely fine other than chronic hip pain.

DC is perfect in April/May and September/October. Other than that the weather stinks.

Todd was probably a freshman just after you graduated. He was / is one of my best and most inspirational friends. Todd knew everyone and everyone knew Todd...it's just his personailty. He was also the bouncer at The Exchange, famous for 'coin-draft' beer Thursday.

Todd and a few friends opened a tanning salon right on F st. in the bottom floor of the Dakota.

    That's Todd in the middle:

Wow! that's crazy about your friend. Thank G*d he lived and is not paralyzed! I agree with you about the weather in DC!

Unfortunately I didn't recognize Todd from the picture...

If I remember correctly, the ZBT house was either shut down or condemned when I was at GW.
