A6 coming very soon to the local streets around you :)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I posted this same thread on audiforums.com... and want to hear the advise of everyone here.

Well I'll be buying a 02-04 A6 2.7T very soon. I am already puttin my list together and I am about to start odering part for it.

Here is my list so far:
    -Ksport coilovers
-diverter valves (please advise which ones to get)
-front mount intercool (please advise, I really want that killer look on the front of the car :) but was advised that its practically impossible for the A6 on audiforums)
-chip (please advise which one to get)
    -20% tint
-HID's (10000K's in fogs and headlights)
-piggies pipes (need advice on whether to do myself or send off to VAST. What exactly is done in this procedure?)
-EXHAUST SYSTEM..... i need a lot of help with this one. I dont want to go out and spend a grand on an exhaust. I wanna make something of my own. I have seen people cutting their cats and or their resonators off, the cutting the stock mufflers off and welding in after market mufflers? Please advise on this.
also since I'll be getting piggies I dont want it to be too loud since this would be a daily beast

    Please help

    Thanks,
    Paul

I answered your post on AF.
for the piggies, go to vast, they are good.
They gut them, add two new O2 bungs pass the precats so yuo pass emissions and don't throw cels...... they might fix what needs to be fixed i.e. flanges...
    Have a great day, Brice

-chip (please advise which one to get) GIAC if you want real power and a kick in the ass. APR is a little slower (marginal) and very very smooth. (I got apr)-20% tint
-HID's (10000K's in fogs and headlights)
-piggies pipes (need advice on whether to do myself or send off to VAST. What exactly is done in this procedure?) VAST hands down!

Ksports SUCK. I have had them in the past and they rode like shit after a month. Then after I blew out one, it was impossible to get fixed. 10000K HID's are an absolute waste as well.

Please don't put HID's in. besides being illegal and blinidng oncoming drivers, they just look crappy. The OEM Xenons work just fine. And fogs are for fog, putting something tat powerful in there makes them useless in fog and a hazard to other drivers.

Re: A6 coming very soon to the local streets around you :)

    Alright another question

What do you all think about turbo timers??
any one recommend any specific one?

Also I have been reading all these posts about exhaust and i am still debating on one thing. I will be cutting the set of resonators off, and either just extending that with pipes or puttin in an X-pipe. What is the purpose of X-pipes? any real performance gain or anything?

    Thanks for all the advise,
    Paul

Re: A6 coming very soon to the local streets around you :)

I wouldn't buy kontrol pro. But I'm having AR-spec Ksport coilovers built right now. If I was seriously competing I would go for ohlins or startupracing.com setup but I wanted to try something different than bilstiens or stasis streetsport, so I chose the K-sport AR-specs. Here's a review of the GR-specs:
    http://64.135.19.19/forums/showthread.php?t=1211484

They are comparably cheap as well I got mine 1200 CAD shipped, custom spring rates. I don't have them yet, so I can't comment on personal experience yet.

I've seen many many mixed reviews of anything k-sport, but I think they're getting their act together and have changed their product quite a bit since the first gen - remember at one point Audi couldn't sell more 2 cars in North America due to bad rep... companies can make a turn around.

how are you gonna use your A6? Daily driver? hwy? track....
For our cars, which are not sport cars nor track cars (though you can certainly take them on track), coil overs are just overkill. Most A6 owners want the lowered look and some added handling on the side is nice... get a good set of shocks and springs, save some $ and it'll do what you need!

How much would a decent set of shock and springs run for a slight drop?

^^^ Yes, out of all the mods that you can get turbo timers are the biggest waste of money by far... If you just allow for your car to warm up and cool down by driving slow for a few minutes your turbos should be just fine. I never push my car to go fast until the temperature has reached the second line on the gauge, and for cooling down I just drive 35-40mph for the last few minutes before getting home or my destination in general. I change my oil every 5K and that has helped me keep my turbos working fine. This is my 3rd turbo charged car and have never needed a timer. Use that money to get better springs or good DV Valves, etc...

    Cheers!
Let us know what you end up doing.
