It's not safe to run a 235/35/19 tire on our S4s. I spoke with Doc at Tirerack and the reason is that the S4's front axle carries 2,756 lbs and most of the 235/35/19 tires, carry 1,356 MAX, each tire, totaling 2,712lbs. 44 lbs doesn't sound like much of a deficit, but it's still under what you need to be safe. If you happen to let the PSI in the tire drop below 36 PSI, then the tire carries even less weight and is more of a problem. The small weight difference will most likely diminish the durability of the tire at least, and make it much more likely to blow out at high speeds at worst.
If you go with a 245/35/19 tire, you will not have this problem, it will more than cover the weight. I currently do not have any rubbing issues with my 19x8.5 ET38 setup. When shopping for 245/35/19 tires, all of the following sould be considered, to prevent or reduce major rubbing, when lowered.
Wheel width, offset and tire tread width. A 245/35/19 tire on my old 19x8 ET 35 wheels rubbed under hard cornering and bumps. But the same tires on a wider 19x8.5 and less aggressive offset, of 38, has absolutely no rubbing at all. It makes sense, with a wider wheel, the tires actually get stretched out and round off the shoulders of the tire(less blocky looking and more rounded), while the offset pushes it in a bit more. So, yes, you can fit 245s, but research the tire and compare tread widths and you can make it work.
I personally will be ordering the Kumho Ecsta MX, because it has a nice, not so wide tread width and is light weight, @ 24lbs.
