Getting Lamin-x'ed, debadged and Stasis'ed tomm

i'm so excited i could piss myself

getting lowered on stasis SS coils and smoking out sidemarkers + yellow fogs, and possibly debadging if i have time as well.

setting my ride height to 25.5" in the front and 25.625" in the back (i have 19x8.5 rims wrapped in 235/35/19 rubber) unless someone can convince me otherwise

is an alignment absolutely needed RIGHT AWAY following the coilover install? or can i get by for a few days (200 miles or so)?

    Congrats! That's a hell of a day.

As for your question, I'm pretty sure you can go a few days. If you wait too long you'll have some tread issues though.

It will be interesting to see how well the yellow fogs go with the dolphin gray

Congrats. I am going to suggest you reconsider your height numbers though. I just lowered my car with Vogt coils and looked at many, many pictures, sent PMs and asked a lot of questions to arrive at my numbers. I can only say that I hit the nail in the head and my car looks perfect at 25.25" rear and 25.5" front. Not slammed but definitely lowered. I like seeing a tad of clearance between the fender and the top of the tire and to have the arch of the wheel well have symmetry with the tire. This height achieves that. Besides, I don't know why Stasis likes to have higher clearance in the rear but the rear fender is actually lower than the front so to maintain the corner weight set by the factory, the height should be lower in the rear by about 1/4". You won't be disappointed with these numbers. As for the alignment, yeah, you don't need to have it done immediately so long as you get it done within a reasonable time frame. I went with RS4 specs and -1.3 camber all around (which is why I got in the front from the 25.5" drop).

Hmm, that's interesting.. i've been wanting to go for that slightly "raked" look - does your car look pretty level from the side? i've seen your track pictures but none from the side when your car is still.

-1.2 camber is what i'm aiming for as well, the specs provided by stasis says this can be achieved via the 25.5/25.625 setup. wouldn't being slightly higher in the rear reduce understeer?

    thanks louis

Re: Getting Lamin-x'ed, debadged and Stasis'ed tomm

My car is perfectly level and that's how I like it. If you like the raked look then yes, the Stasis numbers will achieve that.

I would think of it more in terms of the higher rear inducing more oversteer. Personally, I'd rather go with a larger rear sway to tune out the understeer. Just being lower and having a more aggressive alignment will tune it out quite a bit. I can assure you that the E46 M3 I took around the track on Sunday has far more understeer than my car. Any understeer left after you lower with coils, align it and put in a larger rear sway can be tuned out with higher rear tire pressures. Just my 0.02.

Re: Getting Lamin-x'ed, debadged and Stasis'ed tomm

ive gone like 3000 miles on my stasis SS with no alignment.. havent had time... tires seem fine and it tracks straight and smooth. i think it depends how badly they mess it up as they install it.
and laminx looks awesome. i have it on my headlights and tail lights and it looks awesome. i thought the headlights were too bright and silver against my blue car... the laminx made it perfect.
VW Touareg V10 TDI. Don't mess.

    Past: Stg. 2+ B7 2.0T, B6 A4 1.8T, Allroad 2.7T 6spd (<-monster), Chevys, Jeeps, and a Nissan.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you, Body kits and decals are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.
