    MAP sensor part number?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So this weekend I tried a couple parts stores to pick up a spare MAP sensor for use in my digital boost gauge project, and nobody could find one listed. Today I stopped by both an Audi/Porsche dealer, and a VW dealer, and neither one of them had it listed in etka.

I know we have a MAF, but do we not have a MAP too? If so, does anyone have the part number? I believe it's a 2.5bar unit, as that was the one mentioned in a meth injection kit group buy (can't wait to get the FMIC and meth on there).

If we don't have a MAP, how the hell does the ECU know what the manifold pressure is? And would anyone have recommendations on a good 2.5-3 bar MAP?

    Bump.

We do have a MAP sensor.

I'd like to know the part number also.

    Re: MAP sensor part number?

I was pretty sure we had a MAP too, until I got an Autozone, Car Quest, Napa, OReilley, an Audi dealership, and a VW dealership, all tell me they can't find one in their computer.

I even sat there with the guy at the Audi dealer for ~15 minutes while we looked up alternate part names, flipped through pictures, etc...

I'd think that would be a fairly common part.

It is, we have one. But I'm not so sure on the part number.

One of the OGs will reply, I'm sure.

Many thanks! I'm going to try and pick one up tomorrow (along with a rear coolant flange).

why not use an old 89 turbo trans am 3-bar or a cheaper (if you deal with arrow gates/digikey anyways) the venerable motorola mpx4250ap

i've got a bunch of those motorola's laying around here somewhere they are only 2.5bar the 3bar is a nice external sealed unit the sunbird? turbo used it as well.

Well, the main reason is that I don't have an `89 turbo trans am. As for why I picked the OEM A4 unit, I figure it'll be good to have a spare when/if the original craps out.

I've also decided to run the meth injection off of this sensor instead of the one the ECU uses (less damaging to tap vac lines than the wiring), and since I ordered the 2.5bar meth kit, I'll need a 2.5bar sensor unless I want to make a level shifter (not difficult, but not on my list of things to do). Since I doubt I'll mod any heavier than a k04, the 2.5bar should be fine.

    Re: MAP sensor part number?

Oh, and I did pick up the sensor from a dealership today, thanks again My000My for the part number.

And in case anyone is interested, here is the boost gauge I'm working on:

Hopefully I'll have some free time this weekend to finish it up and get it in the car.
