Four weeks of ownership - Mods, Pics, AutoX and the R8

It's been four weeks since I got my black 2006 A4 s-line with titanium, MT6 and Quattro and I finally got some pics I can share. I got the car with APR93, Carbonio and 35% tint and have added Vogt coils, Abt quad tip exhaust with S4 valance, blacked out the side reflectors and debadged so far.

I'm quite impressed with the power the car puts out for a 4 cyl, 3,600lb car. I took it out to AutoX this past Sunday and despite the fact that I'm running the all-season Falken 912s that the car came with and that I'm still learning how to drive my first turbo, I got decent times compared to the M3s ahead of me. The 97 M3 was running r-comps and the 04 M3 was running RT-615s. The R8 sings at WOT and looks planted at all times. It was awesome watching it move heat after heat. Next up is a few more mods before my first track day on the car this coming June 18th.

Thanks guys. Abt started "making" exhausts for the B6 a while ago. They're actually made by Sebring for Abt.

I AutoX with a couple of clubs and the venue is a strip at an airport that was specifically built for AutoX, test drives and driver's training.

I have been a bit busy putting the car together but still have a few more mods to go. RS4 sway, a dedicated track wheel/tire set and possibly brake updates are in store for the next few weeks. Bling mods will come a few weeks after that.

Sorry, no pics of the M3 but I can tell you it's a sedan, manual and I believe it's stock aside from a set of very light weight wheels with r-comps. A competent driver with R-comps in a 280HP M3 can seemingly beat a stock R8 driven by a less experienced driver. What surprised me is that by my calculation, I'll only be running about a second behind those cars once I put 615s on my car, change sways and have a little more seat time on the A4. Driving my first turbo and a heavy sedan with the engine in the front is very different from driving a 911, which is what I've been driving exclusively for the past few years.

Louis J...nice placement, especially on a street setup. appropriate tires, tuned suspension and better brake then i'm sure you'd be closer to the top 3 in that list. way to represent.

abt always had an exhaust for the b7, a friend had it. actually iirc they're only the rear mufflers.

Thanks LAS. I've already got Vogt coils but I could use the RS4 rear sway and some decent tires. It was tricky taking the sweepers at speed without having the car plow on me but somehow it worked. I can't wait to see how the car feels after the upgrades. And yes, Abt is axlebacks only but I'm doing a custom catback which should sound nice. Right now, the note is awesome but it is much quieter than I thought it would be...almost like stock.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm quite happy with the placement. The STI is not a fair comparison because the driver is not very experienced but it's nice to have beat a couple of WRXs. I'm very impressed with the placement in relation to the M3s given their tire advantage and how new I am to the car. Gives me something to gun for.

Do you by chance have a better pic of your license plate...not the numbers on it :) but how its actually placed b/c it doesnt seem like you have the regular plate look.

I don't have a picture but will try to get one in the next few days and post. It's a sticker I got made with my plate numbers cut out to fit the filler plate. Looks like a Euro plate.

That's what I meant by "sorta". lol. But it shows that decent driver + a better AWD system works! Yes, I'm saying that the quattro system is superior to Subaru's is a fact!

A dealership local to me got the stickers made for a few clients. Mine is the very last they printed. It's printed on 3M material and it's a thick sticker. I can't tell you much more beyond that. I'm sure any sign/print shop should be able to make something like this.

Thanks Dante. Gotta say, I had to think twice about getting the Vogts over PSS9s given that I knew nothing about them but they are exactly as you described...nice and soft on the street but responsive and sharp when you push on them. The perfect compromise for the weekend track rat...very happy. I do have a question though so YGPM comming...
