I'm ready for a boost gauge, have recently chipped, searched ton of threads, opinions?

Hands down I would like a vent mounted boost gauge, I had a vdo vent mounted gauge in my s4 and thought it was perfect but it appears the a6 vent is a hair too small for the vdo. Any other options for the vent? Im not crazy about an a-pillar but wouldnt count it out. Anyone tried the supremepower.com pillar and gauge? Also, I thought it could be neat to sit a gauge in the circular vent that defogs the drivers side window. Im not into the digital gauges and do like the the tach one but Im not sure I could pull all the diy work? Let me hear some input if you have some. Thanks

I need one for my '95 as well, but haven't begun to research yet.

EDIT: Not sure what year/body you have, but here are some options from 2Bennett: http://www.2bennett.com/body_audi_gauges.html

Andrey, I never got to show you but, I re-finished the pod after you shipped it to me:

It fits really well in there and I just need to go over a couple spots where the finish is bumpy. I ended up painting it with black plasti-dip. It has a tactile finish like the switches and knobs in the car.

What gauge is that? I tried to make a 52mm VDO gauge fit into my driver's side A/C vent last year and it was not working for me at all. The 52mm gauge was just too big.

Car is running well. We're just doing lots of tweaks to get the timing and boost where I like it. The car is plenty fast though..

It is a VDO Vision serios 52mm guage. The top sticks out a little bit, but I do not think it looks bad. I removed the decorative metal cover off the vent before installing. Here is the link to the full write-up: http://forums.audiworld.com/a6/threa...9.phtml#761520

I'm needing a boost gauge as well. Sucks that I have a tan interior, I'm not sure of any options that come in tan instead of black

Re: I'm ready for a boost gauge, have recently chipped, searched ton of threads, opini

2000 A6 2.7t 6m - Is that as far in as you get get the gauge into the vent. That is exactly what I would like to do but I want the gauge to be more flush with the air vent blades ( dont like it sticking out as much) What do you guys know about the a-pillar pod and gauge from supremepower.com, right now I think its the best option.

Re: I'm ready for a boost gauge, have recently chipped, searched ton of threads, opini

the only downside about the a-pillar pods is that there's an airbag in there, and most people say that if it does off, you'll have a boost gauge in ur mouth. I don't really see that happening, thats why i had an a-pillar gauge in my B5 and it was fine... i think A-pillar pods looks the best. Up to you tho

Re: I'm ready for a boost gauge, have recently chipped, searched ton of threads, opini

The vent is on an angle, so the bottom is flush, but the top sticks out a little. I could have pushed the bottom in a little more so the top was almost flush, but it looked funny with the bottom sunk in.

Hehe, that took me quite a few evenings with fiberglass and my dremmel. However, now that I'm looking at these pics, I really want to pull it back out to fix those last few blemishes.

Sorry about the delay. Here are two side views of the gauge. It sticks out from the vent a little at the top, but lines up perfectly with the dash. I think it looks great.
ps. sorry for cell phone pics.

Looks the gauge is not flush to the bottom of the vent. If you lowered it to the bottom of the vent do you think it would fit all the way in on the top as well? Thanks for the pics too

Re: I'm ready for a boost gauge, have recently chipped, searched ton of threads, opini

Looks deceiving, but it is sitting on the bottom of the vent internals. It is kinda hard to see in the pics but the gauge does line up with the dash pad above the vent, so it doesn't look like it is sticking out in the car.
