    brake pad light

went on today, how much use do they have left?, because if I can I'd like to just order new drilled rotors and ceramic pads and do the install at the end of this month.

and speaking of rotors, will I just use 288x25mm? and where can I get hooked up with a good deal. I was just going to go with Zimmerman cross drilled 288x25mm front rotors for 89.00$ but they website doesnt sell cross drilled rear rotors and I figured since I was changing the rotors/pads in the front I'd do the rear too.

and If someone could hook me up with a DIY thread on how to do this on a 2.8 that would be awesome.

    thanks

You should be fine for a little but they make those warning lights for a reason, so I would get on it if you are going to order online. I went a week or two last time and was fine.

After the warning light comes on you have aproximately 1,000 miles or 30 days according to the dealer. In my case I went almost 60 days and by the time I actually changed the brakepads I had about 1 mm left of "pad" but the technician told me that it's not agood idea to let it go that long because at that stage large chunks of pad can start breaking off and you could find yourself in a tough spot if you have a tough situation.

As for the DIY, I'd do the front and would leave the rears to a Pro, they are a beoch to do...

    Hey Cerfus

I got mine from these guys http://www.designrt.net/rotor.htm . Good deals and good quality. My fronts were Zimmermans rears Ate. The rears are realy no harder to replace than the fronts. The "getting them off" part is the same on the fronts. The rotor is lose on the hub (front and rear), but the steel hub and the cast rotor sometime "rust together" which makes them hard to get off. I used a 4lbs hammer with a piece of harwood (soft metal punch would also do) and gave it a few good wacks on the hub face (inbetween the lug holes). If that doesn't work the wack the rotor surface. You are not re-using them so who cares, right? In the rear you also need to screw the caliper piston back in. There is a $10 cube you can buy front AutoZone or Advanced that you put on an extension and then push and rachet it back in.( http://www.etoolcart.com/browseprodu...-LIS28600.HTML ) There is a nice tool kit you can rent to do it also ( I got mine from Autozone). ( http://www.etoolcart.com/browseprodu...-ATD-7024.html ) Not dificult at all.

In the front you'll also need a 7mm allen socket to remove the caliper, the rest is all regular sockets and wrenches. Oh and some brake lubricant (usually in little packets at the checkout counter) and some brake anti squeel.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers
