Do suspension drops void your warranty?

I just recently got a new A3 and have an interest in doing a small suspension drop, however I have heard that I will void my warranty if I make a mod like this. Does anyone have advice on this topic?

It depends.

If the parts you're replacing cause a problem with the vehicle, then the dealership will have the opportunity to deny any warranty claim.
For example (an obvious one), if you put aftermarket springs on factory shocks, then claim the ride sucks and the shocks are blown, the dealership won't replace your shocks under warranty.

Another example (less obvious). If you put in aftermarket springs and shocks, and you start to develop a clunk in the suspension or steering. The dealership may, or may not deny your warranty, and claim the aftermarket parts are causing the clunk.

You need to check with your local dealership and see how they handle aftermarket parts, and what their particular view is. Different dealerships will handle warranties differently.
