    Re: door blades/lower molding

I took mine off. I'm going to grind off the pegs and flush them with the door. I had rust behind mine, so that's my reasoning.
I like it more now, than before when I had the lower molding.

take them off. Especially if you ever wanna get sides, looks much cleaner I am in the process of taking mine off and getting lower half of doors repainted after grinding those rivets away

    Re: door blades/lower molding

geez, seems like as soon as i plan to do something on my car that i think will be different, everyone's doing it.

these lower moldings are just trouble anyway, and it will look a lot cleaner without them.
my car is going in for paint at the end of the week, i'm shaving the lower door moldings and the tiny one after the back door on the rear fender (don't forget that one, it seems like people don't usually shave that one but it just doesn't flow)

I also test fitted a seat cupra R lip this winter, waiting for next week to put it on, and now everyone's getting one

ohh well, i'm pretty much the only b5 in my region, so i'll still be unique around here

Well, how many A4's have been made? You doing something like the above listed mods, still makes you different than 98% of the others.

    Good Luck w/ the project

what do the pegs look like? will the door have to be repainted once the blades are taken off?

    Re: door blades/lower molding

i believe you'll have to repaint the pegs because it looks (could be wrong) that they are pushed into the door. either way i think im going to take the molding off monday cause the shit is rusty or something underneath there and i don't like cancer on my car. even if the pegs are left, that's more reason for me to get moving on it.

    Re: door blades/lower molding

The pegs are essentially welded. If they look anything like mine, they're too rusted to tell anyways, and you have to grind them off either way.

    Re: door blades/lower molding

here are some pics of mine removed

the pegs need to be gridned off, not just painted imo

and the first one on both front and back door is that little knob on the left, it's held on by a screw inside the door, you need to remove it to take the moldings off

and the litttle black piece can unclip from this bracket, you need to remove the rear inner fender to go from behind to remove the bracket

wow this would be a easy mod for me considering when I took my lower moldings off they were just strips and there were no pegs.

    Re: door blades/lower molding

Thats nice. I was thinking of doing the same thing but I was also going to remove the bumper bar in the middle of the door. I also was going to put on a pair of s4 sides without s4 door molding. The s4 sides are sitting in my basement but I wont be putting them on if my car ever sells.

    Re: door blades/lower molding

I am also considering removing the upper molding as I think it makes the car look more modern and it also flows better without them.

    Re: door blades/lower molding

I thought about remaking that body side molding in carbon.

I'll also be stripping the trim and removing the pegs. I lost a door strip over the winter and the others are nasty underneath. It is easier and much less expensive to just remove the problem permanently.

FWIW, I was also looking into a Seat Cupra R spoiler. At least I posted pics of them years ago so I don't look so much like an unoriginal bastard.

That was my big carbon strategy. Hood, body side moldings, roof. I'll PM you the big secret one.

    Re: door blades/lower molding

My lower door moldings pretty much rusted off and now the tabs are completely visible. I'm ordering the LDM's from ECS soon because it looks like ass and i'd rather not respray any part of my car unless it was the whole car.
Please take the effort to make me feel unworthy!
