btdt re: clunk from rearend on hard accel?

i've had this funky clunking / binding noise for a while now from the back of the car. it really only does it on hard accel, and is exacerbated if i'm turning left [aka loading the right rear]. it's a 'clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk-' and it gets louder and more frequent the faster i accel / harder i turn [more the RR suspension is loaded].

rear control arms don't have any wiggle, wheel's tight and straight, brake's good, trans mounts are 034, motor mounts are new stock, diff mounts are original.

anyone have a BTDT on this? TIA!

If it's a repeating clunk I doubt it has anything to do with the diff mounts. That would be a single clunk, one on hard accel and one on decel.
Can you tell if it's coming from the diff or the outer part of the axle? I take it you're CV's are in good condition.
If there's a definite pause in between the clunk it's not going to be a bearing, and not typically a gear noise.

That probalby didn't help any but it's a thought

great point, that hadn't occurred to me - i was fairly convinced it had to be diff mounts, given that i've stiffened / replaced all of the other drivetrain mounts except the diff. i really can't tell from the drivers seat, it seems to come from the end, i guess i'll need to have someone drive the car w/ me in the back seat to see if i can tell where it's coming from.

it might be as simple as the exhaust knocking on something..

Fold the seats down and find an empty parking lot. A old parking lot with potholes oo if it's available.
If you can get a buddy to drive while you're in the back half in the trunk it'll help you locate it. Otherwise try getting underneath it and look for witness marks from some thing hittin another.

I had the same problem on my last car. Turned out to be the driveshaft was shot. Granted my car was rwd and had 100k on the clock, but Just thought I would mention.
