    Removing Resonator

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Friend has an 03 and wants to remove the center res. I am assuming we have to drop the whole exhaust to cut out the res and weld the straight pipe in. Is this correct? Anyone have some pics of the underneath of a stock 1.8t I can look at while at work?

    Re: Removing Resonator

I wouldnt think you would have to drop the whole exhaust....you could probably do it while it's still on the car, and that would make life a whole lot easier. Well you probly dont have a lift so nevermind. Its not too expensive to have a shop do it, its a pretty simple job just cut the resonator off and then weld the new pipes on. Ive been wanting to do this for a while but certain things have held me back and probly will for a good month or a little more. Anyway, def. put of vids of how it sounds I really wanna know how it sounds. Thanks.

    Re: Removing Resonator

Actually I do have a lift. I was thinking its gonna be tough to weld around the top of the pipe while under the car. Would there be enough room?

does getting rid of the resonator sacrifice anything? makes it sound deeper in tone
