Here's the deal...I have a 2006 with ~14k in the odometer. When i come to a stop from 25 MPH and below...the brakes squeal and grind pretty bad...what gives? I have been told by the dealer that I need to get up to like 100 on the freeway late at night (when no one is out) and more or less put the brake pedal to the floor to burn off the "buildup". Its extremely irritating and embarrassing when I pull up to a stop light and my brakes sound like those of a $2000 car...

    Re: Brake Grinding

    That's not unheard of :)
I had an -02 S6 with the same problem... You need to clean the breaks better! Get in there with a high pressure washer nosle, and try clean around the pads. It kept the squeaking away for about a week...
Or else you could just switch pads, to perhaps Hawk Ceramic's or similar...

    God luck!

    Re: Brake Grinding

Thanks for the suggestion...would brake cleaner work as well? Could it be that I need new pads? How long do OEM pads last? Would this be considered something that the audi maintenance program includes? Thanks in advance!

    Re: Brake Grinding

I had the same problem and I remember quite a few others on the forum does as well.

I did a few of the "pad resurfacing" run and stop drill and it did help for a while but it eventually comes back.

New pads should help - or do what I did and use it as an excuse to get a set of BBK

If I'm not mistaken (it's been awhile), Audi covers brake pads under normal maintenance up to 25K for one change. Check with the dealer before you spend any $$

A bit off topic, but we complained about brake squeal on our IS and Lexus ended up replacing the pads for free (there's more to the story, but the moral is...Go Lexus Service!!!).
Cool stuff with a little growl!

    Re: Brake Grinding

Try putting a big blob of anti squeal behind your pads...my friend had a horrible squealing problem in his subaru until he went liberal with the anti squeal and his car sounds fine now. :D
