    door sensor help

Ok so my car was fine today (morning and afternoon) and this evening I get inside and close my door and the screen in the dash is saying my door is still open (drivers side only)when its slammed shut. It does go away most of the timewhen I pull the door handle towards me with force. Is this the door sensor? And how hard is it to fix? The open door noise is annoying the shit of out me.

    Re: door sensor help

I had a few problems in theh past with my drivers door sensor doing the same thing.

I think its an electrical connection that completes the circuit when you shut the door to shut off the stupid chime. take some rag or sandpaper depending on what kind of erossion is between the latch on the door and the door post and make sure its clean. This way it gets a good connection. thats how i got miine to work.

if your alarm is going off, it may also be a short in the wiring in the door. often times from the door opening and closing all the time the wires that go from the door to the car get brittle and will break.

One final thing you could try is unplug the connection for the drivers door, when doing this it will be as if the door is closed all the time and your inside lights wont come on when opening the door. kind of a pain, but it wont chime all the time while your driving. this is what I actually have for my front passenger door, all the other doors are working. to unplug this its located by the front passenger side kick pannel. pull the carpet up and you will see a bunch connections. you will just have to try unplugging each one until you see that its the one for the drivers door.

    Hope that helps.

    Re: door sensor help

The alarm is probably going off because the car thinks the door is open...

    Re: door sensor help

For the last year I've had to keep my driver side door out of the sun/heat. I started having the same problem (except the alarm problem) and I figured out that if I keep the drivers door cool, the sensor works properly. But it's pretty much 10 out of 10 times when I park drivers side in the sun/heat, it thinks my drivers door is still open.

++You can use the screen display toggle button (the one that cycles through the Dash displays) to switch to normal display mode and off the door diagram.

I can see what you mean, but for my S4 the alarm wont set unless all the doors are closed. if one door is open the door will lock, but the alarm wont beep until the door closes, so I still think there may be a short or something.

    Re: door sensor help

Well there is obviously a bad connection in the door sensor circuit. This could be an intermittent problem, so that when the circuit closes, the alarm arms. The the circuit opens again and the alarm goes off...
