LOL, I bet that rides as smooth as a horse draw carriage.

dmaize - I run 17's now but want to drop down to a set of 16x8 or 8.5 but they are just hard to find in our size but can find plenty if you dont mind having them redrilled, using adaptors or drilling your hubs to put in studs.

I just wonder how the hell you get those tires on those rims without scratching anything.

They just dip the wheels in rubber. I hope you dont think there is air in those tires.

You can run a 15" wheel, but I hope you're never planning on upgrading the brakes, and good luck finding ones that fit correctly.
16's are a lot easier to come by, but they're never wide enough. Widest I've found is 7-7.5". Yes they're lighter, but not wide enough
If you want a short and wide wheel, custom looks like the easiest, though not cheapest option.
EDIT: If you change your bolt pattern to a 5x110 or anything GM uses 16x8's are easy to come by.

As far as tire stretch... Looks like crap to me.
For an example. This makes no sense to me. I like air bagged cars, and low riders, but to put a huge lip wheel on, then have to roll the fenders, and stretch the tire to make it poke out like this is stupid. If it's going this low, it needs to tuck, not poke.

(again stolen from the 'Tex) EDIT: changed to the pic I was oringally looking for

i got a set of porsche wheels 16x7 fronts and 16x9 rears that imselling. with adapters you can get them to sit nicely with the fender and get some nice stretch going with 205/40/16. fronts weigh 13.5 lbs and rears weigh 15lbs

man i'm coming from the mk3 world and 16x8, 16x8.5 and especially 16x9 are really popular
and good for us we can run low offset wheels so we can run adapters from 5x100 to 5x112 and still be ok.

i just wish i would have kept my 16x8.5 all around porsche d90's to try them on the audi and see what they look like.
but for the b5 i think 17x 8-9'' would be the best fit.

Re: anyone run small rims? 15s or 16s?

I'm back on the stock 16x7 Swings with 225/50-16 sticky summer tires.

There are some very nice wide 16" wheels if you look at the older audis. Some were even forged.

Re: anyone run small rims? 15s or 16s?

that jetta looks almost as stupid as the donk does. why lower your car for a show? it obviously can't drive like that, so what's the point? other than pure aesthetics, which is dichotomous to the whole point on modding cars in the first place.. to make them work better not worse. sigh..

the urs4 had 16x8 et45 5 spoke wheels that are great looking. iirc they were forged ronals. not light but strong as hell. you can get em cheap on audifans or motorgeek. also the 91 200q20v had a 16x8 that was a bbs style basket weave with a bit of a lip. the urq had an optional 15x8 ronal that's rare and cool as hell. in white? ugh.. wheel pron. there may have been wider offerings [sportq?] but they're very rare.

EDIT: the bbs wheels on the 200 20v were 15x7.5

OK, besides the one person basically calling me a dumbass, which I'm aware of, lowering a car like that is for show, it has air bags on it. It'll lift up about 2"+ while driving.

Back to the OP, if you find a set of 16x8's that'll fit our cars that you like go for it. I just can't find any that are readily available that I think would look good on my car. Then again I'm also looking for something that's less than 20 lbs/ea as they will be my track wheels.
It all depends on what you're looking for.

no i get it, i was agreeing with you. my irritation was aimed at the nitwit claiming that you didn't know anything and that slammed jetta is cool.

Those aren't bad, not my preference, but if you like them go for it. I like the URS4's the most out of the bunch.

Yea, the jetta is cool, I just don't like that much poke and stretch. A different set of wheels and that car would be amazing, but it's not my car, so it's not my call.

Good lookin wheels, they'll look great finished up and on the car.

Not my up o' tea though. I'm not diggin the staggered on an AWD. A RWD car yes, AWD no, but I'm into functionality on this car, and an Autocrosser.

Lots of Mercedes stuff out there too. I found a set of forged 16x8 CLK wheels on ebay last year that looked a bit like old skool Panasports. They would have looked great on a B5 A4. Just search ebay for Mercedes 16 and you'll find stuff like this:
