Cupra R splitter help

Ok So this was bent pretty bad in shipping and I tried putting it in the sun and bending it back and that didn't work then I just put it on the car hoping it would bend back and it hasn't. I took a hair dryer to it and tried to bend it back as well. I don't know what else to try can you guys help me out? It just doesn't look right to me, I was thinking about taking it off....

mine's the same way, they packed it like assholes if you got it the same place I did....

anyway I would let it heat up over the summer and see if it straightens back out, it should once heat gets to it over a long period of time

you think so? I held a hair dryer to it for like 10 mins straight then almost burned my hand trying to bend it back b/c the plastic was really hot but I wanted to fix it. lol. That didnt work though

take it off and put books or something on it to weigh it down for a long period of time like a week or something.heat it a couple times while it under pressure to make sure it conforms

i put a bunch of books on it for 2 weeks before i put it on, thats how i got it into that shape it did look like this



I didn't think about heating it up while it was under the books, unfortunately its on there w/ the self tapping screws so i would have to make all new holes if i took it off and put it back on

Why don't you call them and have them send out a new one, packaged correctly of course.

b/c it was a GB and they didn't package it. it was more like a favor someone did that lived over there so we wouldnt have to pay so much for shipping.

I was hoping it would bend back but it hasnt :(

maybe take it to a body shop and have them clamp it to something straight and then through heat lamps on it

still the suck though, your always more ocd about your own shit than others.

if you pay for a piece to come to you, and then pay an additional 30 in shipping they should come not bent to shit where you can't fix em. Thumbs WAY down for that GB

As others said I think the problem might be with the post. Also, in the right side of the pic it doesn't look like it's fully pulled up to the bumper.

no its not I hit a curb whoops. lol. yea others said they cant notice it but im OCD about my car so it bothers me. and I posted it up to get opinions on how to fix it! yea it got a little more shaved down then I wanted but I can't fix that now. lol.

O well, maybe I'll just leave it until it annoys me too much and I take the whole thing off.

had the same issue...i just added washers between the lip and the bumper. now you got me thinking. we can either paint the washers black or install something else. looks like a trip to home depot is in store...

i didn't have the bend issue....had the shaved down too much issue.

As to the poster's problem I'd say buy a new one. Aren't these things really cheap? Unlike every other piece of plastic we bolt to the cars which costs hundreds of dollars. I thought they were under a hundred bucks. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Hmm, maybe you can just cut those posts off, and re-mount it a little more forward. I'm not sure that adding this "splitter" actually does a good job at splitting the air if it's mounted so far back under the front bumper.

personally i think the lip matches the A3 perfectly....

I think your best bet is to find something that you can fit in the middle in place of the two posts and then cut the originals completely off and replace them with whatever item that is. You won't have to make new hole except for the places you replace the posts at. Just use the same holes you currently have when you put the splitter back on. But something there should bend it back under pressure until the next time you take the splitter off. This way you can even adjust the new replacement posts to be even and in the place of exactly where the bend is the worst at.

i got mine bent as hell. i left a hair dryer on it for about 20 min and it almost went back to how it was supposed to be. i got so fed up with the way that they shipped it out that i gave it away on the regional forums. rich at oempl.us will never get a single dollar from me ever.

he wasn't the one that shipped it.

I was really mad when I saw how bent it was but I thought it would go back once I got it on the car. It is getting alot hotter out I'll just park so the front is towards the sun or something and hopefully it will fix itself and maybe I'll take the hair dryer to it again and see how that helps.

hairdryer wont work,try and let teh whole lip heat up under teh sun. be sure to hydrate it as it sits.
