I want to sell my Audi, which is out of warranty, for one. What are your thoughts. Looks aside, let's talk about the functionality.

Re: Toyota FJ Cruiser Special Edition--Thoughts

Personally I think its a great looking truck but I heard they were having problems with the unibody frame cracking. I would check out the FJ forums first to see if this problem was corrected.

Edit: This was something I heard and not researched so it could just be a rumor.

that's THE truck if you want to go offroading right out of the box.

other than that, i think it looks like a bug-eye'd box.

that thing is sick IMO... a little big, and probably shitty gas mileage, but it would make one hell of a weekend hauler, or a good car to tow a boat with.

If I had that I'd probably buy a smart car too... you know, for good measure.

they are supposed to be pretty spacious...

so i went and test drove one, and hated it. all the "space" seems to be in front of you, above your head....not usable....lol

but thats jsut my opinion...didnt like the interior layout/design/space....or the price.

I think that model is bangin', so looks are good. I almost bought an FJ last year, but was turned off but the fact that it's a bit TOO rugged inside. Everything rubber and waterproof etc. Passengers another downside; can't use that rear seat door without opening the front doors. May not be an issue for you, but was for a family vehicle. It's great on capability and outdoor prowess, not big on comfort. Or fuel mileage I'm sure, can't recall the exact figures.

    Love it!

But obviously if you want offroading power, get a wrangler :D:D.

Nah jk, they're botho great, each one has their own strengths and weaknesses.
But I did hear that the vision on the FJ is poor due to the suicide doors.

    wrangler > *

get a REAL trail rig if you wanna go offroading, not toyotas response to the h3. (they are about as useful as an h3 offroad anyways)

plus, for the money youd drop into that thing, you could get a rubicon and make it into whatever you'd like.

Interesting considering that the FJ family of off-roaders has been around since a few decades before the military commissioned the original Humvee. I haven't had either one on the dirt so I can't speak to that point.

But what I think he's trying to say is that the FJ isn't the as hardcore offroader as the wrangler.. much like the H3.

The H3 isn't made to only offroad (which it isn't that good at). It's made more for comfort, and more paved driving rather than offroading.

The old landcruisers were way better offroaders than the FJ imo. The FJ is simply the response to the H3: comfortable, roomy, big, and better than the wrangler at driving on paved roads.

For raw offroading power, with little comfort: Wrangler
For some some offroading power, with more comfort: FJ

exactly what i meant. i know the fj's were around before, back when they were real trail rigs, but these new ones were exactly as i worded them.

in the last magazine shootout i read [car and driver maybe?] with the fj, it didn't do so well offroad. it was beat out by 1 or 2 other trucks in the segment. i don't recall what beat it..

dope lookin truck tho. keep in mind that's gonna suck quick when oil tops 150 a barrel.
