    HELP! Drivetrain/rolling noise

So for the past two weeks I've been hearing a noise when the car is moving, its a 04 S4 with 50K on it. Does not matter if the car is in gear or not. It sounds like a rolling noise or and drivetrain noise. I've check the brakes for rubbing and check all the wheel (re-bolted and tire pressure) and everything is fine. The nose is there regardless of the road surface. There are times when the noise is gone but that usually only last a minute or so and then its back. I'm getting pretty worried about it and any ideas or suggestions (no matter how dumb they may sound) would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andrew

    1. Check your tires. I have a Nissan Maxima and thought that my wheel bearings were going bad. I purchased new bearings ($177) and before I tossed them on, I had new tires put on. The sound went away. How many miles are your tires and what brand are they? Some tires can get pretty loud.

    2. Check your bearings. Lift your car, grab a wheel in the 12 and 6 o'clock position and try to move it. If it has play your bearings are going. I doubt that this is the case with 50k on the clock.

    3. Check your drive train. Get in your car and start it, then drive it to your local dealer.

Good luck and keep us posted.
