Exhaust cutouts?

Okay so I have been thinking about an exhaust for a long time but have never had the 1k to drop into it. I love louder cars but not all the time *highway driving or when I dont want the attention from the cops.* I looked on you tube and saw a few jettas and vw's running electric cutouts along with a couple 3.0 audi's. *this doesnt mean anything though because people also post video of B.O.V.*

If I did an electric cutout on my 1.8t about half way between my resonator and downpipe would this be okay? I still have my cat, but that is going to be replaced soon by a custom T.P. made by a Audizine member.

Reason why I ask is our cars are funny, and I dont know if this would be detrimental. * Does the turbo need a little bit of back pressure?*

from what i understand, turbo systems thrive on open air, they don't like back pressure. it slows them down.

thats what I thought, I did a search, Adam apperently ran this system at one point in time but hes not chiming in....

Turbos dont want back pressure, the cutout is there for just that reason, ro remove the back pressure.

waste of money, sounds like a boat and turbo wont spool up....

your turbo must be fucked up then. yeah it sounds like a boat... by my spool was as instant as it ever was when i was running my car totally straight piped.

my friend's s4 doesn't even have the back half of it's exhaust on and it runs fine.

little to no backpressure on turbos as small as the k03 can wear them out pre-maturely because it makes spool so effortless, but that's the total opposite of the problem you're having.
