    Car is bogging/jerking

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
When ever Iam at low RPM's, and in and floor the car, it builds boost and then starts to bogg/jerk, the check engine light starts to flash and boost drops down to like 4 psi.... ussually happens in 2nd or 3rd gear....

Then when i let of the gas and drive normal, everything goes back to normal

Anyone know what the problem is??? Thanks

99% sure you need a new coilpack, most likely in cylinder 2 or 3. Those are usually the ones that go first.

    Re: Car is bogging/jerking

My car did the same thing, I have the 3.0, but it started off one day when I flooring it from a stop in 1st and it started to bog at high RPMs. To make sure it was not just some fluke it brought it up high again and got the same thing, so I drove the car home keeping it below 3k and I was fine, I pulled the codes on it and three of the coilpacks were gone, I then replaced all 6, because this is a very common problem and from what I have read on here, when one goes, they all tend to go and for peace of mind replace them all.

I kept the other three "good" ones and keep them in my trunk just in case now...

    Re: Car is bogging/jerking

typically a bad CP would make your car sound like a subbie. you loose power, and the jerks a lot.

this isnt' exactly the same, but similar. and i wouldn't hurt to go though a similar diad on your car.

my brother has a 1.8t. its good till about 3200-3400, where it just totally loses all power, then its fine again above 3400. he checked all the vac lines, there were a few lil tears. replaced that it got a lil better. CPs checked out. new plugs, still there. new n75, a lot better, but still there. cleaned the maf, better, but still there.

turns out. it was the fuel filter. the slightly odd part, the car was fine, then would dump fuel in at 3200rpm, thus running way rich. then lean back to normal after 3400. the fuel filter was absolutely filled with sand and dirt. about 45K on the fuel filter. the tech said "its like I just dumped out 1/2 the Sahara out of your filter" supposedly its fine now. brother picks the car back up tomorrow. no more safeway gas for him. his first filter at 55K was spotless when removed. and this time it was full of sand and dirt. : (

glad you got it working. as for the sand beats the crap outta me. the car has been getting gas at a pretty new gas station, i wonder if they didn't get all the dirt out before filling it the first time? is that even possible?
