I have a 2003 B6 1.8T quattro with a tip trans that seems to be leaking from the rear seal where the drive shaft (leading to the back diff) connects to. Has anyone ever changed this? If so do I need a puller to get the flange off? i also guesss I will need to refill the trans since most of the fluid will copme out. I called the dealer and supposedly the rear plate (that closes up the rear where the seal goes) need to be changes at the same time to a newer updated version, the plate is like 200$ and the seal is about 50$ does this sound right? any feedback is appreciated. And yes I searched for related topics but found little.
