Those of you that have bought HID kits, what are some good brands of HID kits? all i know of is VVME. anybody have any experience with anything else? and if i do order the VVME ones do i just get the H7 ones and they'll be plug and play? im looking for an HID kit thats pure plug and play. i want to go with the 6000k ones but i want a quality HID kit so it doesn't look too blue. Thanks

    Re: H.I.D Kits

    Hey man,

Your asking about H7, so im guessing its for the fogs. As for pure plug in play, the light blub will be, but not the rest of the kit. You need to run another power line and mount the two ballasts.

i got one of the kits from http://www.hidfoglight.com/

i got 6000k and to me its the perfect mix of blue. Not too dark where it attracts a lot of attention, but a little bluer than OEM.

also, the quality of the kit is really not goin to change the k value. Thats why you have options for it. What your really paying for is the quality of the ignitor and ballast.

mainly, if you know somebody or there is a deal online, then go for it.

    Re: H.I.D Kits

h7 is for the regular headlight, not the fogs. fogs are H11.

    Hi!

You should go for the mtec kit. It cost a little more than the other kits, but you get a quality kit with metalmounting for the bulb(Not the plastic shit like the VVME that don't fit in the mount) and it has a xtra resistans for the bulbwarning.
    Buy it on ebay.com.

    Re: H.I.D Kits

another question...what are you guys usually paying around for an HID kit? i saw that the VVME kit was about 40 something, and the rest of the kits im seeing are like 100 or more. does that mean the VVME quality isnt good?????

    Re: H.I.D Kits

purely because of price i think im going to go with these guys... http://www.vvme.com/product/detail-20023.html

i plan on upgrading to bi-xenons so i dont want anything too expensive because i wont be able to use these once i upgrade and i cant keep having my aftermarket bulbs go out. what do you guys think???

IMHO you should just save up for the bi-xenon. HID kits are not the way to go.

Why not get some ecodeds from ECS and then drop in the HID it will improve that horrible glare.

No offense but I don't think anyone is talking about an RSX or any other car besides our beloved B7s.

I wouldn't waste my time with HID kit if you are planning on going bi-xenon... Jens (lowestA4) provides everyone in one great package price. ECS is way too expensive.

Try the McColluchs brand. Many friends as well as myself have used them for years without any problems. I'm currently using Euro Optix on my family's Lexus IS350- used them for over a year and no problems at all.

Only problem with this is that the mount on the bulb is made of plastic and is thicker than your standard halogen bulb. You have to mod the bulb to get it to stay in the socket on our halogenhousing.

Not true! I had an HID kit in my last car for the main lighting source and now I have the bi-xenons from the factory in my Audi.

The light output from the HID's is much greater on a reflector housing then the bi-xenons that I currently own. I wish I still had my e-code hellas with the HID kit.

And as for the Honda comment...
MOST of the time just a different colored bulb with not HID kit because they simply can not afford the real thing. I doubt it's an HID kit

You have to grind down the plastic mounting on the bulb until it is thin enough to fit in the holder in the headlight.

I bought the car without the stock HID's and I added the MTEC HID kit. It looks great to me but then again, it wasn't cheap either ($400). I had a shop that I know does good work install them for me and I haven't had any problems. It's really up to you.
