MTM R8 Supercharger

MTM offers it at 550HP for R-Tronic and 565Hp for Manual transmission.. There is a 3 yr warranty on all engine and transmissions. They also give an option with their own exhaust at 25HP more on both options... The kit is great and they are first presenting it in May.

probably going to be in the ballpark of about 11k-20k I assume..and knowing MTM it will enhance the look of the engine..

edit: it seems that they've cleaned up the look of there superchargers..and yeah it will probably be something more in the range of 30-40k

I'm not sure you guys have a good idea what a MTM supercharger costs. This MTM supercharger for an Audi A5/S5 costs $40,000. I think the R8's could be nearer $50,000!!... For a $134,000 car, that is very significant money. But then the MTM supercharger for the RS4 ( same 42L engine) is only $25,600.

At 20,000 euro, or nearly $25,600, the price for MTM's K540 supercharger conversion may seem a bit steep for most RS4 owners. This is why MTM boss, Roland Mayer, does not expect to sell more than a handful. In the context of the $130,000 Audi R8, however, the tag seems more reasonable, giving Audi's new supercar the kind of grunt that will fend off advances from pushy Ferrari and Porsche drivers. "I fully expect the greatest response to come from R8 owners, and that is the car we will be concentrating on with this supercharger conversion," says Mayer.

I hope it doesn't go over $30000. At 30, I'm a buyer.

the reason they are so expensive to the US because MTM does not care about the US market. Also the volume is not so high, and therefore to cover the R&D costs they need higher prices. The prices have also not been changing in value, it is just the weakening of the dollar which has made the price for US application higher. The kit is not even plug and play on US Spec cars due to radiator difference, etc. Plus you pay for quality with a three year warranty on a high-stress mod like a supercharger! The main market is Europe though, since they are TUV certified and all, too, which brings no benefit to USA. It is not worth their money or time to open a focused market to the USA.

They are expensive, I don't deny that. We should have confirmation from MTM on Tuesday for the R8 pricing and we can debate it further then... ;)

As the original poster, I think I should update my opinion on this subject. I would say that VF-Engineering is the real leader in supercharger development for the Audi R8.
