    Re: Audi Prices

When a countries currency drops in relation to others, imports will cost more depending on the value.Parts and cars as a whole have already started going up in price. I believe Honda (or was it Toyota) just announced yesterday that their prices will be going up in the U.S. due to the weak dollar. It seems to me that manufacturers were already paying more, but have been slow to pass the cost on to consumers..

    Re: Audi Prices

That's not actually true ... most manufactures hedge their FX exposure long before the product delivers ... so it's not necessarily a rise in prices.

Also as the US dollar weakens, our budget deficit should drop and with lower interest rates and looser monetary policy ... this might not be the worst for our economy

Ohhh YEA I forgot he has control over the economy...

What it will take is simply for people to start not paying for the gas like we have... It seems that as the prices go up, people simply just roll over and pay it, because hey, we all gotta get to work. That will stop when the cost to get to work is more than what people earn. We are headed for a recession. For every up there is a down, and the higher we are the further we fall.

    Re: Audi Prices

Funny guys. I'm from Germany and work for a German company selling expensive goods into the US economy.
First of all the Euro is not getting stronger, it's the USD getting weaker. So as for any manufacurer in the world the US marked becomes less attractive as most consumer products are based on a fixed price and don't change with the exchangerate.
A weak currency is a great thing is you are an exporting country. However to my knowledge the US is still an importing country what means more dollars to pay for your goods. Question is how long and how cheap does the USD needs to be so the US flips from and importing to and exporting country?
Now think about it. US is the biggest Oil consumer and the Barrel of Oil is based on USD, what goes up and up this days. For the rest of the work, the Barrel oil remains the same as the USD weakens towards there currency.
Also as for the German industry we just depend a 30% on the US market anymore, as focus shifts towards Asia and east europa (growing markets).
Now what gets me involved is that all my savings are in USD, otherwise I could care less.
As an American this might not be a bad think, just don't travel abroad, buy your own goods and hope the export happens soon, otherwise your country will run out of cash. But don't worry, we just print new once and the USD weakens even more.

    Re: Audi Prices

indeed if you look at the math, the euro$ has never waivered too much, however american $'s are going down, and the main problem for our little niche audi parts and gas prices rising and seemingly every other thing in the world almost. is due to the fact that diesel fuel is snowballing, so you gotta think, if we rely on a truck that runs diesel to get our 93 and 100 octane gas to the pump, naturally everything that is imported will too

    Just for your infomration.
Diesel is a kind a side product when making gasoline. It's even cheaper to make as it doesn't need to be as clean as gasoline. So it should be way cheaper.

Its funny i ran across this thread. Im in Trinidad & Tobago right now on vacation(my lil Caribbean island) and for those who dont know, we and Venezuela share the same oil and gas. You dont know how much I love to fill up my mom and dad's cars here.

Exchange rate is about $6.30TT to $1.00US
93 oct is $3.00TT per litre i.e $2.00US per gallon Aproxx...
Diesel is $1.50TT per litre i.e. $1.00US per gallon Aproxx... actually a lil less..

Its amazing to see this here, i come back to miami on Sun and im in no hurry to fill up to head back to Orlando but hey I guess Im already in the hole...

you might "share" the same gas, but a gallon of regular in venezula is still <$0.50 USD.

besides, in the grand scheme of things, the US prices aren't so bad...

    average price of regular in Norway (feb/08) = 1.548 euro/litre = $2.38 USD/litre = ~$9.02/gallon

    average price of regular in UK = 110.6 p/litre = $2.15 USD/litre = ~$8.15/gallon

    average price of regular in ontario (that's in canada, btw) = 123.09 c/litre = $1.22 USD/litre = ~$4.63/gallon

average price of regular in US = $3.613/gallon

    BRING BACK GCC REP!!

^^^ this is so true.. even thought there are places such as Trinidad & Tobago (which by the way is an awesome place if you haven't been, Maracas Beach and Club Zen sweet times) Dubia and other areas where petroleum products are produced that have redicuosly low prices, the remaineder of the world still far outpays us for gasoline and diesel. I'm not saying our prices are great but on comparision, we're still doing pretty good IMHO

    Re: Audi Prices

though the mileage on diesel cars (VW TDI and others) are appealing, the price of diesel just about makes it a moot point. My dad just got a 2007 MB ML 320 CDI.. great ride...

he was all excited about 3 months ago when he got the diesel and how it gets much better MPG compared to others in its class. True, it does average fairly well for the type of vehicle , but with the diesel pricing the way it is... gas/diesel... SCREWED either way.

Back to the good ol' bicycle. haha!

.................NAH, I love my A4 too much!

    Re: Audi Prices

Build a pipeline from the bahamas to the US ... word?

The funny thingi s a lot of the prices of US oil is artificially driven up by the ********s in the government who are overly paranoid.

    1) We HAVE oil in alaska and other partsof the country
    2) We buy millions of barrels of oil every day for our emergency "reservoir" ... thus driving up demand
    3) The government refuses to release this oil to citizens so we don't phave to pay this much ....

It's fucking retarded - they'd rather have enough oil for our fleet of F22 bombers than have happy citizens and then the fucking yuppies won't let us drill in alaska b/c they all drive 50mpg+ shitcycles anyway
