    Headlight rattles..

    Hello,
Been trying to figure why my headlights rattle when I'm hitting bumps and what not. I can see the light beam shake when I'm behind a vehicle or when it's shining on a road sign. Is there a mechanism of some sort that can tighten the head lamps? FYI: They are OE Xenon headlights w/ automatic aiming...

^^ mine used to do that, what i did is tighten all the screws that hold it down, and if it doesn't work open it up and see if the projector is playing if it is tighten it up!

what happens is that the self leveling motor has a ball at the end of it and it came out of the cup that it snaps into. you will have to take your headlight out and on the highbeam side you will see the motor and what im talking about

    Re: Headlight rattles..

definitely try tightening all your screws. If that doesn't help, take the headlight out, and check if the Auto-leveling motor's ball joint popped out of its place. It's not very probable that that's the case, but you never know.

It's located on the side of the headlight, behind the long beam reflector. Take the metal clip off, that holds the black plastic onto the headlight, than take the black cover/plastic off. That'll expose the motor. If the motor's ball joint isn't attached to the white clip, it'll make the projector and long beam assembly free to move inside the headlight, thus shake and bounce every time you hit a bump.

If you need a picture of it just let me know.

    Re: Headlight rattles..

Sorry to up an old thread but mine are shaking a little over large bumps. I tightened the screws per this thread, and now, 2 days later they seem to have worked themselves loose again, and they shake a little over bumps. Would it be a good idea to use the blue loctite on the screws? I don't want to have to keep tightening them.
