It depends upon the condition of your turbo. You can easily blow your turbo with enough boost on a ~1 bar tune. You could push ~20 psi on a newer turbo all day long. But if your turbo is sort of in it's old age, it is not really recommended.~18 psi max is good and ~15 psi max is for longevity if you are still on your turbo from factory from day A. Your engine should be fine, but your turbo is another story. If you want to know how your engine is running, do a compression test.
FWIW, I am still running on stock (turbo and internals). The only thing I am doing is a cat back exhaust and high flow cat (just ordered last week). The only time I plan on changing anything on the motor is when I have sufficient funds to go Big Turbo or BAT (my objective). Till then, I will slowly bring her up to full specs. One more maintance job and she should be up to par.
