    Eurogear hood experience

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
On 12/10/2007 I ordered a hood from EurogearUSA. Due to the holidays the hood did not arrive until 12/30/2007. Upon receiving the hood during the inspection with the truck driver I noticed damage to the box and hood itself as if a forklift had stuck a fork through the side of the box. I denied the hood and sent it on it's way with the truck driver. After I got off of work that day I called Eurogear and told them about the damaged hood, they sent me an email...............

    Dear Shawn,

We went ahead and filed the initial claim with the freight company. It
usually takes them a few days to get it into their system and then send us
a detailed form asking for more details. At that time we may need more
info from you. As of right now, there isn't much we can do since the
shipping company's main office is closed until weds. We'll let you know
    once we hear from them.

    Thanks

So I waited, after 5 different emails requesting status on the claim I finally found out the shipping company legally has 60 days to take care of the claim and that my claim had been approved on 2/18/2008..........

    Dear Shawn,

Your claim was approved! We will be shipping out a new hood to you which
you should be contacted by the freight company within 7-10 days. Thank
you for your patience and feel free to contact us if you have any
    questions.

    Thanks

Nine days later I received a second hood, once again this one was also damaged. This time the box was in perfect condition but the whole front seam of the hood was spit open. Once again I notified Eurogear to start another claim this time I asked for my money back. Nine emails later I finally today received a refund for the hood.

Overall they were fairly nice and had good customer service. I disliked the fact that I had to wait two months before receiving a new hood and another two months before receiving a refund. I felt as though I would never see my money.

I feel the quality of the hood must be poor if they are unable to send me an undamaged hood especially when the second box appeared undamaged. The hood shown in the picture on Eurogears' website is not how the hood will arrive, there is no carbon fiber on the inside as the picture shown which I found misleading.

I would not recommend a Eurogear hood to anyone. Buy a hood from Mike Hood instead.

    How fitting.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, that's always a bumber. So are you ordering a new hood through Mr. Hood now?

    Re: Eurogear hood experience

I probably will in the future, I hit a deer in nov. and wanted the c/f hood to fix it. I waited so long that I choose instead to have a body shop repair it with factory parts and payed with a credit card, I must pay that off first.

Mike Hood does have carbon fiber hoods. Hood sells Vorsteiner hoods and fiber images hoods IIRC. I hope Mike Hood can help you find a new hood since your hood got backed into, probably in the hood.

    this is fun

Here's the site, it's a work in progress as far as I know.

    Re: Eurogear hood experience

I had the same problem with my EuroGear hood, the shipping company damaged it, but they told me they put a claim in, and after 60 days they denied my claim, now Im stuck with a broken ass hood and no money...I wouldnt recommend them, even if the hood is ok, why would they continuously use the same company that damages everything??

    Re: Eurogear hood experience

Shawn (Toyotatech) - As we said to you many times, we understand that you were/are frustrated and we apologize for the time that it took to settle the claim. I fully understand that from a customer standpoint why you would be unhappy. Along the way, we responded to your emails promptly and we often sent you email updates on our own as well. While things didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped, we did make a lot of calls and effort to follow up with the freight company.
In all fairness, saying that the quality of our hood is not good because of them being damaged during shipping is a bit unfair. Many customers on Audizine had stated that our hoods are good quality. But my point of responding to this is not to turn this into an argument. I agree that the claims process took a long time and as I have offered before, I want to make things right for you. If by any chance you would give us a try again, I will do what I can to make you a happy customer.

Jon (Euro-Tuner) – In your case, the initial claim was denied because you reported the damage to us 1.5 weeks after the hood was delivered. I understand that you were out of town when it was delivered and someone else had signed for it on your behalf. But the freight company has a very strict rule about reporting damages ASAP because they want to make sure the damage was substained during transit and not after the product was delivered. This rule goes for most shipping companies big or small.
With that said, I understand your situation and I feel for you. Now remember that we had immediately filed an appeal for you and we have been following up with them. As of right now we are waiting for their final verdict. So there is still hope and we will do what we can to square things with them, this I can promise you. Give us a call or email us at [email protected] whenever you want an update.

    Shipping
Just to clarify, we had since stopped using the freight company that had damaged these hoods. We are now shipping with a different freight company that has more responsible freight handlers and the damage rate has been very very low. We had also taken extra measures to increase packaging for our shipments. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about shipping.

    Re: Eurogear hood experience

Just my $0.02. I had nothing but good customer service from EuroGear through the first CF hood GB. Had no issues, and I don't recall hearing anyone else having major issues. They (EuroGear) have no control over how the freight company handles your hoods. That's why they're insured.

I would/have recommended EuroGear to anyone else looking for a CF hood.

    Re: Eurogear hood experience

I was going to buy my hood from eurogear... giving that second thoughts now, especially since the only deal I was offered was $700 shipped for my A3... seeing that I can go with other just as great if not better companies hoods for around 550-600 shipped... guess eurogear is out of the question then, lol

    Re: Eurogear hood experience

As I said the customer service was good and the shipping companies inability to take care of claims quickly is not your fault. You did respond to every email and I thank you for your service.

In my opinion a hood should not be damaged so easily during shipping thus showing low quality (in my opinion as I stated in one of the emails you replied to). I had heard many good reviews from you guys and that is why I choose to purchase your hood in the first place. I even saw a tuner show endorse your product. If it is not your product I would recommend a better shipping company. At Toyota we receive hoods daily without being damaged, that is with a product less resilient to damage also.
